Point and shoots dont suck. I took perfectly good photos with them as you two have proven. They aren't technically as good as DSLRs but you can still gather a pretty darn good image.
The camera is only as good as the person using it. That said, I wouldn't use a point and shoot with much success unless I was shooting in Manual.

The photo's have a nice tone to them. Makes me feel like James Dean or Broderick Crawford are going to screech done the highway any second,

One of my professors of my photography BFA program at Utah State would only use point and shoot cameras. She LOVED the portability. She used the Canon G series cameras.
These are some I did with my old Fuji S7000. I have since sold it, but got some great results from it! Here are a few:
Hi Brascole, I have 25,000 + posts on Dpreview, and I know what you mean! Ian's making a joke, have some fun with us and show your sucky P&S shots,
Sorry Andy I meant to reply to the OP but was on your reply. Not 25K for me but joined in 2004. It was a nice place back then. Now it's should have waited, could have bought. That's why I joined dgrin. My pbase account expired (not renewing) and would love to show pics of hurricane Ivan taken on "Honey Moon Island" Dunedin FL with a Oly C770UZ.
Wow, I am LOVING these great...er, 'sucky'...point 'n shoot shots! Keep them coming.
Here's my favorite I took using my daughter's Kodak DX7590. It's not anywhere near as good as what I've already seen on this thread, but I still love this picture:
Here's one from my old Fuji F420 3 mp camera. Though I cannot take credit for the shot - my then 5 year old niece took it when were at Vic Falls (Zimbabwe side) back in 2004, the plants in the foreground were about waist high on me! This has had some PP, (contrast, brightness and maybe some saturation I think), no cropping
I tend not to carry a point and shoot with me now, as my old Fuji has given up the ghost. I have found that I either happily carry my 40D or use my phones camera (2mp)
Minox digicams have to be the pointiest of the point and shoots as it's got nothing really to adjust. No focus, zoom, metering (unless you count EVC's).
Sorry if some are reposts from other posts by me.

Yes, you certainly can't expect to take good pictures with a mere point and shoot, Ian!! NOT!!
