    Another effort
    Hi Nikolai,

I thought I'd give this another go. I forgot to get the EXIF data for it though, so as close as I can remember, this was about a 24mm focal length, aperture at about 5, and ISO set to 225 (I think).

    Regards,
    Jen

I hope this counts. A very lonely bug on a very dirty motorcycle windscreen.

    42mm focal length (84mm on a 35mm equiv)
    f/5.0
    Shutter 1/125
    ISO 100

    It does I guess. :-)
But I would never be able to figure out what it was without the text...mwink.gif

Yes and no. Yes - more recognizeable. No - not too shallow :-(

Yes - I'm still working on the technical stuff :P, and I was so excited that I didn't put my tripod up. I'll try again tonight after work.

Oh good! I'd been thinking about this shot for a month, all the while reading for your responses to other posts to determine if it'd fulfill the assignment. I was still uncertain at the time I'd posted it. :D

Thank you, Nikolai! If you only knew how thrilled I am that it worked! :ivar

    My first assignment.

This is a shot of a wood carving of Noah's Ark. Not sure if it meets the requirement of only having the most important part of the subject in focus, but I am considering the whole model as the subject. I shot this through a glass display case with no flash, just the display lighting. No PP. I thought the lighting really made this shot interesting.

Taken with D300 and Sigma 30mm f/1.4 DC HSM hand held
    Shutter 1/25
    f/2.5
    ISO 800
    347367640_BHjDZ-L.jpg

This is another model at the exhibit. Hand held, same lens, no flash, no PP.

    Shutter 1/25
    f/3.2
    ISO 800

BTW, for an noob like me, these assignments are awesome. Photography has quickly become a passion for me and finding these assignments gives my shooting some purpose, rather than just taking random pictures. I really appreciate the time you all take to make this such a wonderful learning experience.

Thank you... I'm glad you like them. And thank you for providing me with these excellent challenges. thumb.gif

I just got LR 2.0 so I may practice using the cool new adjustment brush to fix the blown out highlight at the top of the first Panda's head in the second shot.

Great assignment to get comfortable with manual focus, indeed.
