This is my favourite of the year so far. Donegal's Michael Murphy gives Cork's Michael Shields a poke in the eye on his way to goal during their recent GAA championship quarter final.
Some incredible shots here. I especially like the shots by Polyya and cj99si; very impressive.
I'm very happy with this shot, though I wish it was more sharp. Shot with the sub-par 80-200mm f/4.5-5.6.
Here is another from back in February at Miller, when a bunch of drifters with their Nissan 240s had quite a bit of fun at the track. Shot with the 70-200 f/4 L:
first night of varsity football. Have been shooting all daytime football with youth and semi pro.
Still have plenty to learn, but wanted to share the photo.
I love how there is so much going on here. I would love it more if the flagpole wasn't growing out of the catcher's head
I shot a 50 team league this spring and I can tell you that is a fanstastic shot. It kinda looks like film, and it has a great old-timey Norman Rockwell feel, imo. You could easily clone out the flagpole and flag if you want it gone.

An "accurate" reproduction of a scene and a good photograph are often two different things.
Just thought i would throw one in the mix. A shot from an IMCA modified race in Wisc
the High Speed slide on the high side of turns 3 & 4 at Langalade County Speedway in Antigo, Wisconsin.
This was Part of "The Indian Summer Classic" The front car is relatively in focus cosidering it was the slower of the two cars in the corner. The car in back was the intended focal point.
First year taking photographs so i am a total rookie to this all. I literally started shooting back in the first weekend of May 2009.
saved by out-of-bounds
HI...my first sports post here. I'm a newbie lurker coming out of the shadows!
This QB fumbled on the sac, but, lucky for him, he was out of bounds before he lost control of the ball. I liked the flying grass and the hands in this one.
Awesome shots posted here. I've enjoyed wandering through this thread.
I've not said too much about the multiple picture posts. But please, the thread is for your best shot--please post only one--especially if you've already posted the same pix in another thread.
Thanks,
Ian

Looking forward to seeing more shots!
Lucky me, one of my top 5 sports shots (out of thousands) also happens to be of my son!

When you come to a door... walk through it.
If it's locked... find an open window.
I'm still not entirely thrilled with the exposure on his face though.
