If I could have any two it would be a pair of Sigma 200-500mm f/2.8 EX DG APO IF Lenses. Then I'd sell them and buy $40k worth of goodies :D

In the real world I'd carry my Tammy 17-50/2.8 and 70-200f4L IS.

    Nikon
    17-55 2.8VR
    70-200 2.8VR

I do a lot of photojournalism stuff, homeless mostly, and sometimes it's safer to get some distance between myself and my subject. I've had a few close calls. On the other hand, some of them are very nice and that's when I like to get in close. I should note that I have neither one of these lenses YET but I'm saving now for the 70-200 2.8VR. My wife asked me what I wanted for my birthday to which I responded with a big stupid smile...to which she responded with "I'm not buying you that lens"

Ultimately I'd love to have a 400mm 2.8VR but I don't have money falling out of my ass.

    VR?

I know there was some talk about a Nikkor 17-55mm, f2.8 VR, but was it ever released?

oops my mistake - non VR version. Although I guess if we were describing the lens we would LIKE to have...a 17-55 2.8VR would be it....if they made it.

I'd have to say my choice would be Canons 200mm f/2L IS and the 400mm f/2.8L IS.

I really do love the big ap. primes, and I'm keeping my TCs' for them so there.o050.gifrolleyes1.gif

Using my 450D/XSi or a XXd Canon I could live forever with

    70-200 f4 L IS
    24-105 f4 L IS

Throw in my 50mm 1.4 and I could be buried with that setup.

If I was only doing 2 zooms on a crop body:
    17-55 f2.8 IS USM and 70-200 f2.8/L IS USM

If I had to pick two primes:
    35 f1.4/L and 135 f2.0/L

    Travel kit:
    Sigma 10-20
    Sigma 24-135

If I had to, I'd maybe turf the 24-135 for the Bigma.

I currently have four Nikkor lens...

    24-70mm f/2.8
    70-200mm f/2.8

    50mm f/1.4
    180mm f/2.8

Based on what I'm currently doing, I'd keeping the two zooms and add a FF body, probably a D700. Then I'll start to accessorise :ivar

I still have a lot to learn though.
