And thanks for taking the time to post those IR post processing instructions. They've really helped my IR shots
Why doesn't you comment about Bambi surprise me?....lol We've got to try venison or elk next time you're out here
Thanks again,
Steve
I really like that one too I was also thinking of maybe an 11X19 of that one. I'll give it a try :
Thanks for looking,
Steve
Sam didn't elbow into that shot, he was supposed to be the main subject...lol Lots of DR in that shot, so I didn't capture Sam's face as well as I would have liked
That deer shot was tough. It happened during my 15 minutes of using the 600mm lens. I was really worried about my tripod toppling over with this $7000+ piece of glass on it. Then all of a sudden this small herd of deer started running towards us from across the meadow. I swung that 16 incher....lol around and tried to capture what I could (I got more than a few deer butts, BTW :lol ) You'll also notice the shallow DOF that that lens gives ya @ F5.6
Anyhow, thanks for your comments and you'll have to fight Andy for the venison....lol
Steve
Noooooo, I'm not sick of these type shots. I just figured with 30 members posting shots of the same area, that many of you would be getting a bit tired of the SOS The best part of looking at and processing these shots is that I remember what I was doing before the shot and who I was shooting with. That was where the real fun was at
Thanks for looking and for your kind comments,
Steve
Oh man, Andy and I drove back semi-comatose. I had to take Monday off to recuperate I can just imagine how tough it must have been for you folks who had to travel back home to another continent Get some rest and then start posting some shots
I'm really interested in seeing some of those bird shots you got
Thanks for commenting and I had a ball shooting with ya,
Steve
This place was sooo full of photo ops, you'd have to shoot with your lens cap on to screw it up :lol There was lots of "tall" there. We were at 3500 feet, or so in the Valley and those tall peaks still towered over us :uhoh
Thanks for taking the time to comment,
Steve
I sort of liked that pine needle shot too. Like greaps I was trying for something "different" and a shot of the moisture on those needles, with that colorful oof background, seemed like a good idea.
As for the deer, I think he's less oof than not sharpened when I resized him downwards
After a bit of USM
I shot this whole series in continuous and was set to One Shot, instead of AI Servo So I'm sure they could have been sharper with the right settings...lol
The shot before the one above
The DOF was pretty small, at this distance, using the 600mm @ F 5.6 :uhoh
Thanks for taking the time to comment,
Steve
As you wrote in your "Something Different" thread, I was going for something unique that wouldn't look like everyone elses shots. IR is really good for this, not to mention what IR does to landscapes : While it wound up not being that unique, I think 4 or 5 of us were shooting IR. I really couldn't have gone all that way and not come home with at least a couple nice IR shots

Nothing in the world makes me feel as good as when someone asks me to post more pics Now that I think about it, that's pretty sad :lol :lol
J/K and thank you for taking the time to view these pics and comment,
Steve
Lovely series of images, Steve. I liked your wet pine needles also. I like those kind of location detail shots.
Shooting 600mm lenses is a new skill set in itself. DOF is Very shallow as you said. I am still learning with my 300 and 2X telextender.
