Sorry for the OT, but have you been thinking of adapting Eye-fi to CF and let handle RAW files? I'm really missing that on my camera now...

    OT = Off Topic

    What's "OT"?

So I can't comment on future roadmap plans, but all I can say is "stay tuned", and sign up for our Mailing List (we won't spam you).

    Thanks --

    Wireless
My old wireless router is a 'b' version. Do your cards support that, or a bluetooth connection? Will I be able to upload to my photobucket site that way, or just to my computer? I sure am looking forward to having my Sony 700 connecting where ever I go.bowdown.gif

Yes, the cards will support 802.11b/g so your router will work. Just make sure that you're not using Shared WEP, and that you're on Open WEP or WPA/WPA2. Shared WEP is a really old standard that almost no one supports, not even Apple.

The Eye-Fi cards can upload to either your PC/Mac or to SmugMug, Photobucket or any of our 30 or so destinations. It's totally up to you.

Your Sony 700 is CF based, and today we don't have a CF solution. But stay tuned through our Mailing list:

    Memory stick
I have four cameras, and all of them accept memory stick formats. ( I am just a sony guy). Do you forsee ever getting into these form factors?ne_nau.gif Or is that just too small a market to look at right now?

Great question -- unfortunately, I can't give you a straight answer because we don't comment on future roadmap stuff :-(

All I can say is "stay tuned" through our mailing list...

    GEO tagging
headscratch.gif I see that your Explore cards offer to Geotag all photos. How does that work, I mean is it something that is in my camera that must be compatible, or will it work on any of the cameras that your cards are compatible with? I have been looking with interest at adding this to my photo exif for a while, but it always seems to require an additional piece of hardware. How is EyeFi able to do this? I apologize for grilling you like this but it is rare to be able to get the response from the decision makers. ( and my thanks to you for being so responsive.)

    Hi Dave,

Great question. Take a look at this:

    http://www.eye.fi/services/geotagging/

Obviously, our site isn't perfect, because if it were, all of these questions would have been answered :-)

The geotagging function works in any camera, just like any of our features work in any camera. All we need is power, and all the magic happens in the background. The camera has no idea of what's happening.

For geo -- the card collects the addresses of wi-fi networks around, when the photo is taken. Even if those networks are hidden, secured, etc..., we still collect the names of the routers. Then, as the card uploads the images to SmugMug or to your computer, the images go through our servers first, and if we can find a match between the router name and the GPS location, from Skyhook Wireless, we embed that into the EXIF header. So everything happens in the background, automatically. You don't need to do anything. If you're in the middle of nowhere, and there is no wi-fi around you whatsoever, this will not work. But if you're around an urban area, even city beaches where the nearest building is hundreds of yards away -- geo will probably work. I just shot photos in Point Bonita lighthouse and around the beaches, for example, and got geotagged. Same thing for the beaches around the Marina in San Francisco.

Don't forget that you get geo and roaming FOR FREE for being a SmugMug customer. So just get the Share card, and don't worry about getting the Explore card, since, courtesy of SmugMug, you're getting the functionality of the Explore card, for the price of a Share card, as long as you're uploading to SmugMug (and to your PC/Mac).

    Cool?

Thank you :-) You guys own the premium sharing category, so it's a great fit :-) Notice how we only feature SmugMug, and no one else, out of our 25+ partners...

    Sony
I bought a sd to CF adapter and put your 4GB explore card in it and it seems to be working quite well. Now if there was some way to move those RAW files as well... I am planning on moving up to the Alpha 900 from my 700, will you be making a bigger size card for those huge files?bowdown.gif

    Dave, I'll say 2 things --

    a) the CF adapter is totally unsupported, and you may run into issues like low RF range due to the fact that the CF adapter is made of metal, file corruption, issues after format, etc... We just can't support it since it's not our product.

    b) on the raw files -- stay tuned ;-) I can't pre-announce anything, but I can just say "stay tuned" through our email info list.

    Thx --

    Ziv.
