Do you want to share your favorite photo(s) from your OWN wedding? Curious to see ... :D

Our wedding photographer sucked (sorry, it's true ... and he's the reason I got into wedding photography) :rofl So most of them were actually taken by my dad:

1: My all time favorite .... Yeah, I'm out of focus ... but it's about the feeling the photo gives me :D Taken by my dad
461458912_UVsRA-M.jpg

2: We didn't really take any good posed photos of just the 2 of us with our photographer, he just really wasn't that creative ... :scratch So this one is pretty much one of the only good ones:
461503229_ej8cc-M.jpg

3: Oh yeah ... that one goes in the set as well. Not sure who took it .... I was a mess just walking down the isle. I lost my voice the day before (and was completely speechless the day off - I could only whisper ...). Started with the water works once my dad took me down the isle, and was crying pretty much through the whole ceremony :rofl (of of joy) ... spread the tear virus, and made my husband cry too :rofl This pic was taken right after the ceremony.
461509002_u7po2-M-0.jpg

4: Haha, just kinda like the expression ... again, I'm out of focus .. but oh well :dunno One might not agree with me, but every once in a while when I really like an out of focus pic of the weddings I shoot now, I won't delete it just because I remember those 2 pics, posted in this post .... Sometimes a pic is perfect, even though not all the technical stuff did not work out ... :deal

Ha ha! I have to laugh because I was totally planning on starting this exact thread whenever I got around to digging out my own photos. You sure were a cute little bride, tears and all! And thanks for the reminder about OOF photos and the merit of looking at content and not just quality.

I'll have to get them out soon!

This is one of my wife's favorites and frankly the only one scanned into the computer. Our photog was wasnt very creative, but was very good at the science of it. To be honest I didn't pay to much attention to the whole thing that day. So here is us 7 years ago.
    ourwedding.jpg

Funny thing is we shot a wedding at the same church we got married at this year.

You have made me feel a bit better about our wedding photography "catastrophe". I didn't hire anyone, but trusted someone with my camera and got all of the images blurry from my cam! It was not a big affair (not a first wedding for either of us). Let me add that if I would have a chance to go back and do it over again, I would have hired someone. What was I thinking?

Thanks for posting jrmyrnsm & cj99si (btw love the post processing in the 2nd shot) clap.gifiloveyou.gif

Sheri: Yeah, I don't know if it was just a real bad wedding photographer, or if it was just not a very creative year in the wedding industry ne_nau.gif He was a young guy, so I though he would come up with some stuff, and his website looked pretty good ... Unfortunately he got only the usual formal shots with family & friends, and one or two of the two of us, and that was it headscratch.gif ... It was a bit tough organizing this wedding since we still lived in Switzerland at that point (wedding was in Colorado). Just kind disappointing when you are in this AWESOME setting, ... after the church we drove back to Tim's parents house for the reception (everybody left already, it was just the 2 of us + the photographer), .... at some point I though it would be a great shot, to have us walk down the empty (long) road, hand in hand in the middle of the mountains ... but he was just like "why did we stop here?" ... "why do you want to have that photo / what do you want me to do?" ... ne_nau.gif Dunno. headscratch.gif

Anyway, POST YOURS!!!! Any favorites? iloveyou.gifmwink.gif There got to be some!!! :D

    My wedding
Disclaimer, I made my own album layout, so I'm taking my faves from some of my favorite album pages I put together using our photographers photos. (Dan Wagner was our photographer). Aside from using an overly wide and unflattering lens for some of the getting ready shots at my dad's house, I had no complaints with him. He was a great guy to work with and gave me permission to take his jpg's and post them on my website on smugmug for permanent family viewing (non-profit of course there). Which was a major plus for me.

My favorite of all the shots is this one... I think it's also my husband's favorite, it's been his desktop background since we got the photos, and when we got our new Blackberry Storm's last week it was his phone background the next day (we've been married 2 1/2 years for those wondering):
    82434013_YBtsJ-M-1.jpg

I loved the shot he took of our hands / rings... I did the selective coloring myself and then tossed the color photos on top:
    82434082_ea2qn-M-1.jpg

I love our faces in this one (and I *loved* my hair so this really shows it off)
    85342078_3V9Kr-M-1.jpg

I really love the photo his assistant took on the left of us walking under the bridal party hands, the rest are our photographers photos, all great stuff that I made into another 2 page spread:
    82856740_bmajY-M-1.jpg

Anyhoo if you want to see my complete 24 page album design I created w/ his work, go here: http://photos.cathoffman.com/gallery/1680238_zCyKQ

Above were just my favorites of those :)

Well, I really do love several of my pictures, which is amazing considering our original photographer cancelled on us only a few weeks before the wedding (yeah- read those contracts carefully. At least we got our entire deposit back). Our photographer ended up being a good family friend (who was retired, but had previously been a wedding photographer and who did the pictures as a gift to us so we got all of it including negatives for free!!). The fun thing about it is that he took my parents' wedding pictures too!
    #1 My favorite posed picture
    462180932_nqRyT-M.jpg
    #2 My favorite candid
    462180976_mJik5-M.jpg
#3 My favorite picture that didn't include my husband! (The swords were the guys gifts)
    462180360_NP2Dx-M.jpg
#4 This is me & one of my grandfathers. I ADORE this picture, partly because I'm such a grandpa's girl! :)
    462181047_nBiNk-M.jpg
#5/6 And these next 2 are some of my absolute favorites. My husband & I got married in the same church that my parents had about 26 years earlier. My mom's favorite picture from her wedding is here & we recreated it kind of. (that original door isn't there anymore) We gave them a copy of both pictures in a gorgeous frame & mat for Christmas that next year.
    462180412_kixbK-M.jpg462180832_Hvonr-M.jpg

My only recommendation to people is don't get married around Christmas! We got married Dec 28, 2002 & it was crazy! Looking at these pictures, we were so young (but not really THAT young- we were 22! :) We've been married for 6 years now & we still look like kids! lol

Woot! I just realized this is my 1,000th post! I am not as chatty as some so that is quite an accomplishment for me!

    Here are some of mine:

Scanned from photos taken 11 years ago with film. (Can you believe how much technology has changed in 11 years? The internet was barely around back then and digital photography was practically non-existent!)

    1. This is my favorite-favorite of my wedding. Yes we got away in an old beat up VW rabbit... we bought a new car 3 days later, lol!
    463131984_cTfyX-M.jpg

    2. Me. The photographer loved soft focus photos so there were quite a few with that filter on. I still like it even though it has its own special exposure issues... I shot an e- session at this exact window on Friday...
    463131072_goWfU-M.jpg

    3. Get me to the church on time....
    463131553_XRoff-M.jpg

These were all before artistic and candid photos were normal as they are today... film was just too expensive! So I feel lucky to have the ones I do!
I only have about 40 or so photos... But they are all pretty close to properly exposed which is more than I can say for most of my friends' photos of that era.
I sure am glad I rescued these out of a box... they are needing attention and some TLC.

And what were my parents thinking on letting me get married at 18? I look like a baby.

To Steve: at first I thought you and your wife both had "fro hair" But it was just your flash shadow... And I love the RBearer's expression in the last shot... soo cute! (And your wife IS a hottie! Don't forget to tell her!)

To Shima: LOVE #1 and #3... And I am jealous of your photos! I have often wished I could shoot my own wedding, (How that would work, I don't know..Laughing.gif!) but I would have been totally happy with photos like yours. Your hair was so beautiful!

To FCorin3: Man are you brave with all those swords! Don't move a muscle!
And if you added bangs you could be your mom! Pretty fun!

    463174344_WGX6J-S.jpg
    Yup, I'm a daddy's girl.

    463174393_jtY8o-M.jpg
I had perma-smile the whole night of course.

    463174371_pNy7E-M.jpg
My mother's screaming stopped me. I did hike it up though and got in by way of ladder. Boy, did that water feel good on my dancing feet. wings.gif

Like many, I got into wedding photography after my own wedding. I looked at over 60 websites before choosing my photographer. It's interesting though...my husband used to dj and said that it ruined music for him b/c he never listened to it in the same way. Now that I have re-looked at my own wedding photos after having been on the other side, it adds a whole different perspective.

First of all- I love this picture! Clone out that light pole & the mountains are beautiful! :) I love how you are holding your dress up & walking!

And yeah- I'm pretty much the image of my mother! Had to dress up for a school play & had a wig like her hair & was literally mistaken for her (she worked in the school office). I have more pictures where we look even MORE alike!

Well, almost 25 years ago we eloped and did not remember to take the camera. All we have are memories and this business card. When I first got a computer and I believe Microsoft's Picture It, I created this collage containing the business card and two pictures of about what we looked like at the time!

I don't have one from my wedding. The photographer was a Pro in my area, been doing my family photos for years. So why not right? WRONG. when I got the pictures back ( he used film) I was mortified. I cried. Such a beautiful day and no pictures to remember it by. UGH. Thats when I decided i wont shoot a wedding untill I know Everything.....

I remember the 3-4 hour "discussion" I had with my folks as well. I smile about it now 'cause my pop gave it a year after taking most of that 3-4 hours to tell me that I was being stupid, I should wait, that hormones where controlling my brain, that I was throwing my life away .... yada, yada, yada. The DW and I got married when I was 18 and she was 19 - some 28 years ago. I used to kid her about "robbing the cradle"rolleyes1.gif

Neither her nor my family showed for the wedding. So it was small. Just a tight group of friends, ranging in age from 18 (me and my best man) up to about 65. I handed an old Canon rangefinder camera to a friend of the best man and asked him if he knew how to use it. Well, that turned out to be a major mistake. He throught it was a manual SLR, throught the focusing control was the aperture or some such. Anyway, we got NADA. But we have each other!clap.gifbarb :ivar thumb.gif (she still hasn't figured out just how huge a mistake she made in marrying meheadscratch.gif).

I'm loving seeing the photos you all have been sharing!
