yea it is fixed! But there is still a black screen coming up just for a second. can it be removed. Also there is a border around "Slideshow images loading" that wasn't there before. Can I delete the border?

    thank you!!!

Slideshow images that have a drop shadow look odd. Images that do not have a drop shadow are fine.

Many images used in the slideshow had a drop-shadow effect added in PS. Those images were being shown with the big black border as seen in the above attached image (after the fix was rolled out).

Today, that does not seem to be a problem, however the images being used are small now. The images being displayed before were much larger.

And the black background has returned:

For some images it is fine:

    David,

I think I am seeing what is happening but it appears that the system is working as designed. I wanted to get more details to make sure I am not missing anything.

So, what I am seeing is you have small borders around images like this: http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/4413851_9wjJu#460101193_MPXeU

and very large borders around images like this: http://www.smugmug.com/gallery/4413851_9wjJu#259302251_quHpY

So the slideshow is giving you exactly what is in the gallery. But, because the large border images are in fact smaller due to the px resolution that is how they appear.

Let me know if that is what you were wanting to happen, I will be happy to dig further.

That border was added using picnik.com.

That image has no border. There is a very small drop shadow added, but no border. You can see that here.

Please dig when you get the chance, Doc. I appreciate the help.

    David,

Ah, I think I see a little better. I was using the non-customized version of your site so the drop shadow does not appear due the way the background is presented. Now that I see your customized version, I see the drop shawdow.

So what is happening is when you create the image on the drop shadow, you are creating a 1200x1200 image canvas. The drop shadow resids in the area outside of the actual image. So there is a difference in space from the esge of the actual image and the canvas. That is what is putting the black box around the image. It looks like you are using a transparency on the background and these images are in fact .png's. png's support transpearancy and jpg's do not handle it well.

The images that are displaying correctly are jpgs with the canvas cropped tight to the border/shadow so there is no need for the transpearancy.

So what it boils down to is that .png files are not appearing correct. I don't know if we ever intended for .png's to be displayed in the Slideshow. I will ask the programmers to take a look.

Just FYI - this was never an issue until last week or so.

    And thanks again, Doc.

I understand. I just need to figure out what is going on. I think that the latest update changed the way we handle the background and that is what is causing the image to appear black.

The png part is what caught me off guard as they are not normally used for things like this.

I will let you know more as soon as I hear back from the programmers.

Pngs in Slideshow were never expected to behave the way they did. I'm really sorry about that!

I'll make this a very desirable feature request then. Thanks Andy.
