This one works if you follow the instructions in devbobo's posting #3 in this thread. Here's the link that starts you out in filmstrip mode:

I can't seem to figure out why mine doesnt work. This is what the link looks like now:

    http://paulcao.smugmug.com/homepage/...o.com/popular/

I don't think i did it correctly cause it doesnt work. At least I don't think it did. Is there still something wrong with my url?

Oh yeah, it's full form is this:

    <li><a href="http://paulcao.smugmug.com/homepage/templatechange.mg?TemplateID=7&origin=http://www.paulcao.com/popular/">Popular Pic(k)s</a></li>

So how does one go about using this code without gallery links in the Navbar? I have a navbar - but it points to the categories of different galleries... will it still work if I point the navbar links to use a specific style on a gallery...?

    http://eriktank.smugmug.com

    Thanks all!!

You have this in your navBar code:
    <li><a href="http://www.smugmug.com/homepage/templatechange.mg?TemplateID=7&origin=http://www.paulcao.com/popular">Popular Pic(k)s</a></li>

    Change it to this:
    <li><a href="http://www.paulcao.com/homepage/templatechange.mg?TemplateID=7&origin=http://www.paulcao.com/popular">Popular Pic(k)s</a></li>

    Default gallery style redirection broken?
Back in 2005 it was written in this thread that to control the initial gallery style in a URL one should use the templatechange.mg script like so:
    devbobo wrote:
    John,
     http://www.smugmug.com/homepage/templatechange.mg?TemplateID=<template>&origin=<album url>

    where <template> is as follows...
However, I'm having problems getting this to work. Do I need a Pro account? (Just have the most basic account.) Looking over the thread of other folks that have claimed success, I see their links don't work anymore either. For example this page:

    http://www.koalaplayhouse.com/gallery/906894

    has links like this:

    http://www.koalaplayhouse.com/homepage/templatechange.mg?TemplateID=10&origin=http://www.koalaplayhouse.com/keyword/06+joshua+garcia-ovpb+2005

clicking them does nothing. Cutting and pasting them into a blank web page just brings up a blank white page for me. Pasting in the 'origin=' bit directly seems to bring up the expected page, though.

Even the example in the original message is borked ... it ends up re-directing to this dgrin thread?!

I'm happy to use some more modern way of doing this ('?style=smugmug' would be nice ...) I'm happy to try that, instead.

    Hi,

I have a feeling that something that got changed somewhere along the line made this hack obsolete. I'll check around and see if it can be updated or not.

Can this hack be used to force Large image sizes in "Traditional" view on single image pages?

Hi everyone, I'm a recent subscriber to SmugMug and am still learning my way around customizing. Most instructions I have read are clear and I can work it out.

But in this thread, I'm simply having difficulty making sense out of what steps I need to take.

I'm currently forcing Journal view. But, as in the original request, I would prefer Journal view be the default while allowing the viewer the ability change it.

    Kind Regards,
    Bob

Hi and welcome to Dgrin, Bob! wave.gif

Right now, the code doesn't seem to work. I'll check with Barb to see if she found out anything.

Will there ever be a way to set up a default view (the now "old" journal view is my preference) while allowing the viewer ability to change at any time?

I'm really not sure if we'll do this, but I can tell you this, I'll bring it up again and see what the team says.

Solution for Initial Gallery Viewing Style as SLIDESHOW?
Was a solution ever found for forcing gallery viewers into an initial viewing style, such as Slideshow or, better yet, Full-Screen Slideshow? Thanks.

still no chance of getting this feature added?
I see its been about 7 months since it has been brought up. any chance we could get an option to set a default gallery style with a user option to change to something else?
