    Site down? HTTP500 errors
Is the site down? All I'm seeing is HTTP500 errors for all my domains and even the main smugmug.com page.

ugh!!! This is the second week in a row that I am unable to upload pictures. This is getting very frustrating to say the least. Sales were affected last week, and this isn't gonna help. What's up now? Are the new servers going haywire?

    Andy,

Any chance of switching us to "read only" mode. Totally down is like the end of world...so final.

Unplanned problems are understandable (though alarmingly frequent in the short time I've been a customer), but please don't sugar coat it. That only serves to increase irritation.

Hi Code, there's no sugar coating going on. The site's down, I'm not bothering our engineers with questions right now. They'll update me as soon as they have something. I'm sorry I chose my words on the blog poorly - I wanted to get a notice on there asap. I'll edit it now.

Shot a wedding over the weekend and promised the B & G they could look a the photos when they arrived in Mexico. I now have the catch a plane and will be gone for four days with no one here to load the photos when I'm gone. Sure am glad I stayed up till 2:00 AM trying to prepare the photos for loading today. eek7.gif

This is the second time this has happened in as many weeks. So who wants to come to my house and load these for me while I'm gone. rolleyes1.gif

I know, I know, Smugmug has the best up time in the business

    Andy,

Thanks for the offer, seriously. However I'm out of time and I have to be out the door in five minutes or I'm not going to be in Syracuse in the morning.

Does the loader still come up with the error message and the chance to reload the files? If so, I can get my daughter to come over and do it.

I'll check the answer from the airport.......

Can you please update us on why there have been the interruptions lately? I just signed up for my SECOND Professional SmugMug account because I was so happy and now I'm getting blocked at uploading and many potential first time customers will be turned away.

I photographed a big Little League tournament and handed out hundreds of flyers and business card. This will be their first impression.

No- timing's bad, and for that we apologize! We've got a great record of uptime and we'll match it against anyone's out there. It's never good, we always try to minimize it. We protect and harbor your photos and take great care to do that. And we spend a fortune on systems and infrastructure to keep these downtimes to a minimum.

    I'm sorry for today's issue.

I apologize for complaining in advance but I just had to add my experience. I just wanted to add that I recently signed up with Smugmug, Pro, specifically because of an event I photographed this weekend. Invite says, "Please visit us on mybusinessname.smugmug.com to purchase your pictures on Monday, after 1pm." And here we are. This is bad business for me. I think that many will agree with me that of all the days to be down, Monday's are the worst.

Hi Liquid, welcome :( Sorry we don't meet under better circumstances! We'll get the site back to normal, and then I think you'll see that we do all we can to make uptime the priority. I'm sorry for this first impression!

In fairness to SM, I've been with them for around 4 years and had very minimal downtime, and when there has been they have responded VERY quickly. Not many companies will post regular updates and respond to queries in their forum at such a time, and kudos to Andy for trying to find a solution for l4pi.

I'm sure there will be ample time for a post-mortem, they know we need our sites back up ASAP.

Though I will put in an early request for a more professional/less quirky "our servers are down" image please; I don't expect to be high on their to-do list for today. :)

My site is now back up, with a warning at the top of each page...Presumably read-only mode?

I love Smugmug, and for the most part the outages have been relatively short. The "read only" is far better than most other companies offer.
I would like a better outage page when read only isn't available.

If at all possible today, please keep the "read only" up. I have a gallery owner trying very hard (and patiently) to choose some photos for an upcoming show.

    Still not working??
According to the thread, Smugmug is now working.

However, on my site, I can see the "preview" photo for each gallery but when I clock the photo to actually go to the gallery, no photos are showing. I only see the gallery description. That's it. No slideshow button, nothing.

I can log in but I can't get to the customize gallery page. Am I the only one with this problem?headscratch.gif
