    gaWOW!

1, 4 and 6 - this is one occasion where the colour- coordination of car and clothes seriously makes it work - I just LOVE these!!

My only comment is that in the second shot, the model's face is a little overexposed. Short of that, amazing set. As Nikolai said, care to share some details about the assignment as well as lighting setups used?

Thanks Nik! OK, the details. This was a strobist event...and leave it to me to NOT play around with baby flashguns....With cars, women and the venue, it only made sense to bring the big toys :D

I was the 2nd to arrive (came very early) so I could choose where to set up and what to shoot. We had full reign over the dealership (Jeff Belzer's Chevy/Dodge in Lakeville, MN) on Sunday. The coordinator gave me a tour of the new facility and walked me up a ramp to a separate showroom....low and behold, a brand new Vette convertable. I staked my claim and brought in 3 bags of equipment and took me about an hour or so to set up. Softboxes, reflectors, bare bulbs, you name it. Typically, there are a couple other guys I shoot with on these events as we can really kick ideas around and work so well together...so, after about 4 hours and 500 images later it was time to quit......I of course wanted to go till 10:00 PM mwink.gif

We had overall about 15 photographers present scattered throughout the dealership and 8 models with 2 MUA's. Naturally, I went after the 2 blonds and the brunette....heck, blond hair, black dress and red cars? No brainer!

So, anyway, the owner of the dealership expressed interest with the coordinator that he'd like to have prints on the walls....it would be a cool thing to have my work displayed. In any case, I'm pleased to have come away with what I did..there are more to work up but am pretty choosy as each image takes me a minimum of 45 minutes :D

Thanks again Nik...you would have had a great time there...lots of very cool vehicles..including a Viper (which I didn't get a chance to shoot).

Thanks...good catch..I had fixed that but uploaded the other one before correcting....am replacing now. I toned most of the bright side even though there were only 2 very slight areas at max.

Great lighting and comp on these.

#1 really stands out as a unique take on a theme that has clearly been photographed a few times before (women and cars).

#6 is nice in this sense too.

Impressive set - you've got the people shots dialed in these days.

    hello =)

imho you didnt capture the character of either the car or the women...

    1. one of the best shots .
smal thing but...why would you show a piece of that orange blinker?
remove it or show it. paying attention to details are nr.1.

    2. that pose looks awkward, stiff and unnatural, and the car dont look specially fast or fancy.

    3. you half crop away a beautiful car-front,
but you keep that white bright light thingy ?

    4. this could really be great!....pretty girl, car look ok
    about the car-cropping in general
you kinda leave "someting" but not enough.. or just a bit too much.
(what up with that one leg poking down ?)

    5. this is just bad... the girl dont belong there at all, looks increible inept.
even the car looks uncomfortable and the cropping insecure

    6. the car looks good ! minus the cuting of mirror and keeping a piece of that orange blinker again..
and that blond girl is trying to be something... but what?
to bad you didnt have access to some models with real expressions.....
    thats not your fault tho.

    7. shes looking better now, and thats also the best thing about this shot, the pose, its pinupy classicy even though you put a big car mirror infront of her.
also that ceiling is coming down and claustrophobistify this low-shot a bit.

    8. oh yeah... theres that white bright light thingy again=)
the car looks pretty satisfied and wants me to look at it but i look at that one leg poking out down there..

keep on working, and some day you wil be best.

Nice job! Great body work! …and the cars look pretty good as well eek7.gif

My only other comment would be that in #5 she looks as if she'd rather be somewhere else… (no eye contact, distracted, disinterested, uncomfortable… p'raps she's worried about someone sneaking a peek up her dress…)

BTW: #1; I'd be so tempted to air-brush a puff of air escaping from where the stiletto heel meets the skinny tyre… mwink.gif
    (same goes for #6)

    Great pictures!

    - Wil

PS: #2 the colour of her shoes clashes horribly with that of the car (just noticed, I wasn't really looking at her shoes…)

I am seriously having difficulty being polite here but I will be as polite as I can for the digital grin forum members.

These images are national magazine cover quality. By any standard they are very very good. Could they be better? Sure, everything could be better. That's what drives us. That said these images can stand on their own.

You have a lot of gall showing up and peeing in Swartzy corn flakes! Who are you? Where are you? Do you even own a camera?

I am with Aron. Do you have the courage to show your own work? Do you even have work?

Swartzy, you should blow these up to poster size and sell them at car shows. I could see these hanging in garages all over the place thumb.gif
