I haven't had much time this month to work on anything. Then I got so sick the past few days I couldn't even sit at the computer. Whew... I think I have made it through that.
These are what I have been able to piece together. Never got the shots I was wanting. I still have one more I really want to try to set up. Please let me know what you think.

1. Concrete Angel - Martina McBride

2.I was going for Independance Day - Martina McBride... maybe Star Spangled Banner?

3.It's not easy being green - Kermit (or Ray Charles) ?? any other ideas?

4. Dragonfly - smile.dk

I'm enjoying #3. Just clean up the dust a little on the leaf.

I'm leaning toward #3. If you can clean up the lower right corner, you've got a keeper. mwink.gif The song title you chose is perfect for that shot!

eek7.gif What? No "Yellow Rose of Texas" from a Texas gal like you? rolleyes1.gif

I like the idea of the fireworks with the flag. I think I would like it better if the flag was in front with some transperency so you see the fireworks through and around it.

I don't think I made it through all the posts that I had missed lately, so I probably just missed the concrete angel. I wasn't crazy about mine anyway... :)

Here is a rework of #3, cropped a little from the right and cleaned up the leaves some. Does this look better?

This looks really great Donna. The detail on the frog is amazing....like I can almost feel the wettness! Great crop and composition - can't think of any suggestions to improve this. clap.gif

    Hi Donna,wave.gif

I like the frog, nice capture.. It needs a small adjustment in levels to make the frog come out from the leaf and to increase the shadows in the creases of the leaf; it is still running a little flat on tones and this should fix that.

I know you use gimp, but the levels in Gimp are just like PS.

Open up the image and go to the levels adjustment. Take the (middle) slider and bring it to about 1.43 and the farthest left slider to about the 45 range. I think you will like the polish it gives the image and it should help the frog's eye out too giving it some contrast.

I like your song choice and I think it fits well, nice work Donna...thumb.gif

:D I knew I could count on you for any adjustments. Laughing.gif I will give it a try... no promises on how it will work with me trying it though.

Hi all, I played with it some in curves, but didn't have a clue what I was do, Laughing.gif.
What do you think? 1 or 2?

    1. 596764765_hgdmF-L.jpg 2. 600924544_vcGNY-L.jpg

It sure did look like a bigger difference when I was doing it....

    Hi Donna,

Is this the original beside the new one OR 2 new ones?

I like the #2 because of the detail it brings out in the frog and the depth it gives the plant and the creases on the plant leaf. However, you may find that some people depending on the calibration on their monitor, may prefer #1 and think #2 is too dark.. Will have to wait and see...

I like #2.. and it looks great on my monitor..thumb.gifclap

Hey Donna, have you tried cropping this image along the leaf edge by rotating the crop? you could leave it vertical or rotate horizontal, horizontal is the best... I think it would look much better with that part of the bg removed... just my 2c

    I like 2 better, but....

The white area on the frog looks like it may be over sharpened a bit, and right by
the frog's nose, the leaf looks like it has some decay.

I know nothing about gimp, so I can't help you in trying to fix this.
It could be at a larger viewing size the Over sharpened look could go away.

Good luck, it's a fine shot.
    dave.
