When it loaded the first thing I thought was "Wow". Composition is spot on. You created a nice delay photo as I didn't notice the river in the gorge until several seconds after processing the contrasting colors in the sky and the detail in the foreground. Being that this is a compressed version, I am sure there is no banding in the sun as is evidenced here. Great capture!

Thanks Aaron. I tried calling you yesterday, but no answer. Sorry I missed you on the way back. Needless to say, you were a fantastic host, and you organized an amazing shoot. Thanks for everything, and especially the photographic coaching. I had a blast, and seeing the photos that everyone produced, makes it even better. Can't wait to see yours.

Danny, awesome - great lighting on the rocks and the lines all draw you in to the sun. Great fun this weekend.

Man this could be so great. The light on the rocks is just amazing with great detail in the foreground. The river is a great touch with the lighting being very believable. The sky however is where it just falls apart. Besides the sun being blown out the clouds and sky are also very flat compared to the rest of this image. The blue could be bluer and the clouds need more depth to fit with the depth of light in the foreground.

For me the sky and especially the sun stand out as being bad mostly because the foreground is so great.

I believe you can make this better after seeing what you have done after feedback from other shots. deal.gif

Sorry I missed you guys. I was hoping to meet you. :cry

Thanks for the candid critique, and I'm sorry I didn't get to meet you. Next time.

Is this better in your view?

Dan, that second image you posted with adjustments now has some major issues of the bad kind....IMO.

If you ask me, I would delete it,
as for the touch-ups I referred too earlier? I will need to get back with you. It will take me some time to explain properly...

I like the original one...I think. The foreground is awesome though. I just don't know what one does with the sun. ne_nau.gif what is the right approach for that? Beautiful still...

bowdown.gif What an amazing place! I think the first photo is fine. The second is suddenly underexposed, which takes away all the majesty of the sun.

That's fantastic to hear that Aaron got all of you SW Dgrinners together. I can't wait to see more photos and hear more stories about that trip :D

Thanks Schmoo. I think I like the original also. You know how it is. We get so involved in each photo when we process them that we lose perspective. I really appreciate the feedback from others.thumb.gif

Well...well...well...now there is something you can hang your hat on, Dan.

I'm not going to put any of those silly emoticons on this message...they are not high class enough to descibe this shot.

I would love to hear ALL the particulars on this ( I can't think of a proper adjective) shot, Dan.

Sometimes, nice guys do finish first.

If I'm looking at this correctly.....you let different shutter speeds determine exposure? How did you meter?
