I generally asked the same thing back when Smugmug started using Bay Photo's... Cause there were products on their site I wanted.. But didn't show up...

I received the same answer back then too... Smugmug is always "working" on it... Just like they are "working" on packages...

Its very very annoying, and as of right now.. do not see myself renewing my subscription again... its unfortunate that I decided this just after my Pro account renewed.

Adding MetalPrints is nothing like adding packages. We'll have 'em on the site really soon.

"back then" I'm sorry but MetalPrints weren't available :)

ThinWraps are amazing! I ordered a 16x20 several months ago through Bay and we love it. I also use it to show customers. We're sold on them and I no longer have to spend hours looking for the "perfect" frame. It's all photo... just the way I like it.

Any more news on this?? I just got in a metal print I ordered from Bay Photo and am really impressed - it's a truly unique product. The Thin Wraps are incredible also. Will these be offered soon also? Did a small portrait with easel stand of my siblings and I for my parents. It was amazing, so I ordered a larger softop Thin Wrap with mounting block of one of my waterfall images and am expecting it in early next week. Thanks!

I hope soon. I was going to order from Bay a couple weeks ago and decided to hold off because I saw Andy's post.

We're closer! We just have to activate the skus and $0 out pro pricing - hopefully not too many more days.

Does anyone know what the turnaround time on metal print orders is? I'm mainly asking so that I have an idea as to what to expect.

Also, how do metal prints compare in terms of image quality to the metallic prints? :)

    Thanks!

Typically same day turnaround, rarely beyond one additional day.

The IQ is amazing - I have a several high-detail landscapes and they look so beautiful.

Hm... I ordered two last week (Thursday) and haven't gotten a shipping e-mail yet.

I'm looking forward to seeing them; I'm planning to donate these as door prizes at a holiday party in a few weeks.

On a semi-related note, is the turnaround for merchandise like tote bags and coffee mugs similar? I'm planning to donate a few of those, also...

And can we get the double float option that Bay has described on their site, as well as our choice of finish?

~ 2 days in-lab, this time of year can be busier, so order early.

No, not yet but possibly in the future, sorry!

Cool, so it will just be a few days, I was concerned that it might be longer since they might have extra stuff to do to fulfill those orders. I have three weeks, so I should be ok there.

Possibly? I hope that becomes a certainty soon.

Thanks for adding these! I ordered http://photo.oscarc.net/Events/Halloween-2009/10159789_udevR#698975202_vbfxg-A-LB as a MetalPrint last night; I'm really looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

BTW, any chance of getting all of Bay Photo's print sizes added? I'm especially interested in 6x9, because it's a nice medium-sized 3:2 print; larger than a tiny 4x6 but not as big as an 8x12. While I don't know the details of the SM/BP integration, it doesn't seem like it should be that hard to add additional print sizes, at least from a technical point-of-view.

    Now THAT would be cool.

I saw the metal prints at West Coast Univ in June, so glad we get to have them through smuggy. clap.gif

I'm not the right person to answer that one, but I think that they look better than the metallic prints.

Based upon ink and metal manufacturers this is what we have put together to answer this question: Images printed with the MetalPrints process will last for generations when displayed indoors and out of direct sunlight. Like any fine art print, MetalPrints should not be exposed to direct sunlight or high outdoor temperatures. The archival value of a print could be judged not only by its resistance to degradation by U.V. light and ozone exposure, but also to moisture and surface damage. MetalPrints have an additional benefit over gicleé or photographic processes in that they are waterproof and have an ultra-hard scratch resistant coating.

    Thank You!!!
So no need for a spray coating with UV spray or are they just H2o proof???

I appreciate such a detailed answer.
