How accessible is this area by car, and did you guys have to hike much?

Thanks, Dan! The hoodoos in the first few shots involve a couple of miles of easy hiking. All these areas pretty much require a 4x4 though. You'll have to come with us some time.

Joel, I can't even believe that you're the same photographer who was posting photos on Dgrin a year or two ago. Wow! Not only is the location really unique but you captured and processed them so skillfully. The first and the last really do it for me.

I have not seen images of Coal Mine Canyon in some time. I used to make a stop there often thinking each time, how this place will become crowded some day. That day has never come. I guess it is just tooooo far out there!

I enjoy your first image very much thumb.gifthumb
Have you guys looked up White Mesa Arch?

Well, thank you very much, Marc. I can't believe you nailed Coal Mine Canyon. You know everywhere, man. bowdown.gif
I googled, White Mesa Arch. We weren't far from there at all. Looks fairly difficult to get to though -- right up our alley! :D Next time for sure.

    Cheers and thanks again,

You and Aaron definitely worked hard for those photos. Love # 1 with the soft glowing light and #8 with the tree (just a preference of mine to have a tree in foreground). But, then, the others were fine, too. As i said, i will be in that area from January 10 until I get homesick. If you want another photographer, I would love to join you. That whole area is so different from my Pacific Northwest.

Thanks, TJ. You'll love living in the southwest. It could keep a photographer happy for a lifetime. I used a polarizer on some of the shots, just where it makes sense, which is pretty much if the sun is roughly perpendicular to what you're shooting, and if the sun is bright. So no CP on the hoodoos, but I believe I used it on the brain rock in the clouds shots.

    Beautiful Images
Nothing like a well executed Landscape! clap.gif

We need some of the Landscape Photographers like yourself and others here on DGrin to come out to our Smug we just launched in AZ!
We had our first meeting last night and had a great guest speaker in Stewart Thurlkill. Plus we had Jeff Jocham from Smug fly in for our launch.

Now I have to go out and shoot some Landscapes because I am motivated.

If anyone is interested in finding out more about our Phoenix AZ Smug please email here or at:
    WolfOnDigital@aol.com

    Keep Shooting,
