iPhone question

After entering my sites URL into safari on iPhone, the page loads and then immediately closes its window. This happens if I enter an extension as well (eg "about") or if I access it by clicking on a link from another page. Is there some setting I need to change?
Thanks
Thanks

But /iPhone doesn't work, do you have iPhone toggle off in your control panel?

Andy, I designed this site as a second smug site, somewhat of a portfolio site. I'll enable rss when I get it all squared away, but I won't allow /iPhone until we have more control over it's UI.
I'll see if resetting safari on my phone (3gs) helps but if it loads completely for you i guess it's a problem on my end. Thanks again for the quick replies.

It looks like Smugmug is serving up something that's not entirely friendly to the iPhone's Safari browser.
Edit: I tried your site on my iPhone and got the same crash as you're reporting.

Any update on this? I'm not able to view my (non-iPhone-version) site on mobile safari, nor those of other smugmug photogs whose links I've clicked while traveling with only my phone to use for internet. Lots of people do most of their browsing mobile during the day and I hate to think how many hits I lost because someone clicked on my site's link, only to have the page not load, and then not come back. I hope this will be fixed soon.

I have iPhone disabled because I don't want viewers to go to the mobile smugmug site, I want them to view my site as on a regular browser. My iPhone is up to date.
I think it may have to do with the vanity url-- when I type www.exploringlightphotography.com, it crashes. When I type www.exploringlight.smugmug.com it works fine. Is that what you did?
Since I use a vanity url all my links elsewhere use it, not the smugmug url.

I was referring to this other thread, pretty much the same problem. Looks like someone was looking into it at one point, but doesnt explain why everything works fine for you (and now Allen), but not me.

Yeah, that's the thread I started awhile back.
And for the record, every smugmug site with a custom domain is still broken on my iPhone as well (well, obviously I didn't test ALL of them, but everyone I tested exhibited the same problem (including Andy's Moon River Photography site)). They all exhibit the problem described at that link.
And since the page crashes before it finished loaded, I don't even get a chance to tap the link to go to the iPhone version of my site...
From the other thread, it seemed like docwalker narrowed it down to a cookie problem and was able to duplicate the crash.
Also - I have noticed that intermittently on my site. Sometimes my 3G shows the site, sometimes it does not (and I have disabled iphone from my control panel as well).

Good to hear its not just me, either our phones have some duplicate setting that's causing the problem or it is a smugmug bug. I tried loading about 10 custom domains today and every single one crashed, including Andy's as well. I've tried changing the settings on my iPhone safari to every possible combination and none worked. As I said earlier I'm not so much concerned about me not being able to access these sites as much as I worry about other potential customers going away forever because they can't browse on their iphone.

I didn't get the "about:blank", for me the window just closes itself. Thanks for chiming in.

It needs to be </center>
Betcha' that will fix your iPhone problem.

Yes but when i load it using the smugmug domain instead of the vanity domain it comes up, there's just that blue box with a question mark where my slideshow would be as safari iphone does not support flash.

Thanks! I'll give it a try, unfortunately smugmug is down again in read only mode and I can't do any edits. Bummer.

Its back up now. It worked. Thank you soooo much. Other sites I tried are still not working, for example http://www.samlinvillephotography.com/
maybe he has a similar problem, though at a glance of his source I did not see any problem -- he has his slideshow coded in his biobox whereas mine is in the custom header.
thanks again.

Thanks, I don't know why your getting the about:blank, it loads fine for me. Do others sites with custom domains load ok for you?

Unfortunately I can't easily check your html that is in each of the gallery descriptions. It appears that there may be some unclosed tags in them (missing </center> tags) but it a bit hard to check.
Interestingly enough on my laptop I can't get the embedded slideshow to load. The place-holder is there, but it will not run. <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/headscratch.gif" border="0" alt="" >

If you load up sitename.com a second time without closing Safari first, then it does load.
Here's the steps to get all the various combinations of crashing and not crashing using my site as an example:
1. Start Safari on the iPhone
2. Type in www.ruama.com
3. Page will load most of the way then dump out to blank page (address bar shows "about:blank")
4. DO NOT CLOSE Safari - type in www.ruama.com again
5. This time it will load successfully
6. Close Safari - after closing and running Safari again, you're back to step 1 with the same crash sequence.
7. Open Safari
8. Type in ruama.smugmug.com - it will not crash under any circumstances.
The earlier smugmug tech seemed to think it was something cookie related - maybe it's getting confused between getting a cookie from ruama.com or smugmug.com and Safari bails out?
