This one made me laugh because I can so relate. Not sure if it's that people just don't care or if they are so wrapped up in the moment that they don't notice you but this situation happens all too often.
Did you say anything or just wait him out? I once took a picture of some lady that did that, walked up to her, showed her the picture on my LCD and asked if I got a good picture of the back of her head. I don't think she understood that I was bothered, she actually thought I was being sincere.
They are certainly triptychs by the definition. For the challenge, the triptych is supposed to tell a story (over any period of time -- it could be a baby picture, getting married, first child; or as short as jumping on a horse). I'm not fully getting a sense of continuity of character or location. There is certainly a coherent theme, but I'm not sensing story.

.... back of the head, haha !
I dont think I will ever understand behavior of certain people....
Popular photography hot spots are filled with all kinds, and Im always surprised by someone's actions! Though there are times I run into a great spirit and enjoy a short meeting, but its encounters with the ~not so much of a treat of a person~ that will ruin a good time.
This guy in the photo was really not a problem, I gestured to him that all was ok and he proceeded to do his thing...(but I represented him to be the villain in my attempt to show frustration of being out there with people in the field....lol ) (and I did show him the portrait as a friendly gesture, but he didnt seem to care or didnt understand english or something I dont know)
If there is a real problem with someone I will say something to them.... of course as nice as possible, because I know I've done stupid things too....:D
Anonymous - I LOVE your entry! The child and dog make quite a pair, sharing their bowl of cereal (dog cereal or kid cereal? ) and then looking to see who made the biggest mess--at least that's the story I get from it. Absolutely terrific, IMO!!
Other nice entries also. A fun theme--now I have to get busy and come up with something!

Hi Liz! Hahaha!! You gals might have the last word! (... but not always the last say, 'cause usually the last say is wordless).
Love this for its enigmatic surface (eg the wazzup changes in the BG), and its comic-like movement of narrative through the frames (do you know Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics?).
I am a fan of your rich satiny high contrast B&Ws. I hope you will give us a tute someday.
Your subjects ignore your camera so successfully, makes me wonder what you use for disguise!?:D
Finally, all that leads us to find very satisfying authenticity in the mini-drama which like here is often your topic.
I like this challenge. Gave me an excuse to finally create a triptych of something.— Kevin
Beautiful job, Kevin, and the title really nails it!
He's a stern little guy (but I wish this was not the only choice for boys. We are human, after all, and that means a helluva lotta things should be possible!).

I haven't entered anything in a long while. When I saw this challenge I thought immediately of these images and what I was planning on doing with them all this time. Thank you for a great challenge.
I would assume that those are fishing tags on it hat. Some places make you do those sort of things. THere's a state park around here that does that as well.
yep, fishing tags. only 4 trout per tag per day. Don't know if that's how it is in all fishing in missouri, but where we go it is.
Yeah, thats his goofy grin. that is my stepdad and brother in the picture, and my brother is just a spitting image of him. He has to be just like his dad in everything. it's adorable, and one of the reasons the first picture is one of my favorites.

Perhaps it is a consensus statement! Don't you see two different sets of teeth marks?

1) The average life span of the praying mantis is 12 months.
2) The praying mantis can see its prey clearly up to 60 feet away.
3) And last but not least, the females have an occasional habit of biting their male partners head off during mating.
