question is? was you wearing a polkadot dress?

Oh if you only knew. I still wake up in a cold sweat because of some of the things my big sister did to me. (Sorry Andrew, Aaron and I are getting off topic here. We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.)

Great shots--you really nailed this topic, Andrew! This has definitely gotten a lot of interest and creative work.

Here's mine. FYI, it's the same rooster, shot in different years.

Thank you Tatiana and Neil :)

Neil--My high contrast b&w is due to one of my built in filters on my Olympus E620--it's my go to filter--the main problem is because it is high contrast I have to be highly vigilant about metering--so easy to blow out the highlights.

6 hours.... make it count (and then I have a LOT of work to do).
One note, we have a Middle School Open House tonight, so results won't likely happen until Thursday.

    Preparing a triptych
I prepared a triptych in photoshop, transfered it to Lacie, my external hard drive, and then dragged the photo into Iphoto. I can not load the photo from iphoto into smugmug. It's taken me a day to figure out how to do the photo and now I'm stuck again! it was frustrating process but a good learning curve. (I am not a computer whizz! as you can see.headscratch.gif Advice is most welcomed. JustPeachy2

Did you try the simple loader for smugmug? I found that works very well, and you can just drag from your folder viewer into the gallery upload window and tell it to upload and voila!! Why are you going from PS->LaCie Drive->iPhoto (on the web?)->Smugmug?

I was just about to tell you the same thing too: - save it as .jpg on your hard drive (whatever it is) and upload it
directly to smugmug by using the top menu: "Add Photos"

Upload to smugmug with no success
Thank you Adbsgicom and photo-bug for your reply. I've been at this on and off all day with no success. My triptych is in photoshop/bridge. I got the photo to the hard drive and dragged it to photo shop but I still can not upload the photo to smugmug. I am accustom to using the uploading system to smugmug and normally there is no problem.
There must be something I'm missing but I don't know where. Moments ago I tried to upload the photo from bridges to smugmug, that didn't work either. I seem to have a "phantom" photo without "data?" (does this make sense?) so it won't export to anyplace. ne_nau.gif The photo I end up with in Iphoto is like a ghost, I upload it to Smugmug, you can see the spot where you put the photo, then the photo just DISAPPEARS! No upload progresses.

I have been having trouble uploading recently when connected through the corporate network. When I disconnect, I have no trouble.

The other option is to contact Smugmug support.

Tatiana - Thanks for the nice comment about my entry.

JustPeachy - Do contact SmugMug Support about your uploading issue. It's no fun when you work so hard and then can't get the image uploaded for people to see it. We've all been through that at some point. I'm sure Support will help you if you let them know.

What is the file size? I was encountering this problem and figured out the error when I went to look at the upload log. If the file is too large, it may not throw you an error at the upload spot and look like it uploaded successfully - but it didn't actually upload.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments about my little Lulu. wave.gif She is one of my favorite people to photograph. Here's the link to her gallery from that day.

Adbsgicom, you're going to have a tough decision on your hands. There are a lot of wonderful and varied entries.

This was so hard. I've really spent a bunch time distributed over last night and today trying to come up with how to sort things out. The stories are so varied and so well done that this really took some time. Then once I lit on a winner, I had similar problems for the 2nd and third places.

    Honorable Mentions in entry-order to:
    AnonymousCuban: Best Friends
    Lizzard_NYC: Defeat
    LeahE: Wild Play
    lilmomma: Caught One
    sdways01: Let it Burn

    In Third Place:
    TinaMarie52: "It was Delicious"

    In Second Place:
    Cdorothy: "Cooties"

    754572202_CSGqF-S.jpg

    And our winner is:
    RedLeash: "Self-Explanatory"

Thank you to everyone for such great selections, and congratulations to Lauren (RedLeash) and the other folks who placed this round.

Lauren, it is now your turn to come up with a theme to help us rummage through our archives or to brave the cooler temperatures and capture something new!
