    My 2009 Favorites
Last year was the first full year of photography for me - still a lot to learn. so I probably have more 'favorites' than I should :D . And some of them may be too processed for many of you - oh well, I try to do my post processing well.

    Jerry,

I think the photos that look like drawings are excellent! :D I may have to try something similar as I really like that look. thumb.gif

Don't know how to embed a slideshow into a post, BUT, follow the link to a smattering of my 2009. As you can imagine, it has mostly horses, but I did add in the few DSS entries I made.

It was fun trying to select out what to put in here, and in the process I sort of relived the year. I am also reminded that one reason I do these occasional entries is to stay fresh by being inspired by all of the really creative stuff that all of you guys do. Thanks for a great year!

Assume you mean "off to a great 2010" mwink.gif . You have some very good shots in your galleries - thanks for posting. I appreciate especially the ones with 'faces', i.e. people with horses.

Thanks! And yes, I meant 2010.. Those horse and person portraits are in the "FACES" section because, as you mention, they are faces too!

    Waking an old thread :D

I've been so busy at work this month it's silly. Today however I managed to put a 2009 recap together.

First though: I had a look though all of your galleries here. I have no questions on why it's going on round 43 and I've barely managed a third place. You guys are good.

    Diva: Number four.
Kerry: I recognized a few of those locations, it was good to see those :D But your Swedish model takes the prize!
Mark: Eventing! Nice! I've got an eventing camp coming up in May, and hopefully one more in the summer.
    Karin: The canoe.

    Here's mine. 2009

    2009-first year favorites
This was my rookie year with a DSLR. Some of the images in my favorites are there because they represent big firsts.... First smugmug challenge top 5 finisher, first image sold (one of the lax photos for a tournament program cover), first time shooting sports/birds/still life, etc.

For me it has been a steep learning curve, which you all have helped me with!

May 2010 be brighter than you could imagine.

WOW Chris, for a "Rookie year", you have some awesome images to show! You've got some skill girl! I really like the shell shot BTW, very cool perspective!

Karin.. it's so exciting to me when someone, especially a fellow photographer, likes my work. I would not have gotten as far as I have along the beginner path if it hadn't been for all of the great people on this forum.

thanks for your kind comments. That made my day.

Pyry, nice stuff there, lots of which I hadn't seen yet..

TinaMarie, you do have some great stuff. Keep it up, and get neither too jazzed when you win and too blue when you don't. It's all about learning and finding your style!!

Before the DSLR I had a P&S. 30 yrs ago, I had a Minolta 101, which I could never figure out how to use, so I gave up and found other hobbies.

Odd Man Out is one of my absolute favorites, too.

Interesting that you mention "finding your style". It has taken a while to begin to understand what I like to shoot. That's why the challenges are so good for me. They entice me to experiment a lot.

Your comments about winning and losing are exactly right.

    Thanks for your comments.

I already posted mine in the People forum, which I know some of you saw. But in case any Challenge folks don't wander over that way, here's mine.

Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuude how did you get your camera into the U2 show? I friend and I brought ours with the to the show in Tampa, but they wouldn't let us in. I even argued with the lady for a minute because I had checked the website before attempting to bring it, and it should've been allowed. We had to walk all the way back to the car and then back to the stadium, so we missed the whole opening act. But you can bet I'll try it again when we hit the Miami show in July!

Anyway, those shots are just inspiring. Really beautiful work. Thanks for sharing!

And thanks everyone else for sharing too! Such a wide range of shooting styles we have here. Now I'm feeling like a big slacker for not having finished editing all of my shots from 2009 yet (is that even English? headscratch.gif ) :D

By lying. :D Cameras were not allowed, so I snuck my little G10 into my jacket pocket. When I was searched and asked what was in my pockets, I opened the opposite pocket and pulled out my hat and gloves, then I was waved through. I didn't expect to get away with it. mwink.gif
