just a thought ... if you haven't done it already, look into taking some classes on running a small business, look into the local SCORE or SBA, quite often they will have seminars on running a business and they can help you with the legal stuff involved in setting up a business as well as taxes and insurance .... even if you are only going to do this part time, if you are getting paid to photograph people's kids, you should make sure that you are insured in case something happens. Also, if you are getting paid for your photography, most likely your home owner's or renter's insurance WIL NOT cover your photography equipment if it is stolen or damaged.
