I like these, but, then, I'm a sucker for raptors.

clap.gif Sweeeeeeeeet shot Ric! I am envious. I can't really get anywhere near any of the raptors in this area.

    Thanks, Mike. :D

This was a rare occasion...this hawk had a nearby nest that I wasn't going to get any closer to.

Nice shot, Ric! Exposure on the hawk looks perfect.

    Thanks! :D

There are a couple of small hot spots...but we need shadow detail too.

Fabulous picture. I see all the great gear in your signature line. Mind sharing what you used for this shot? I've got a 7D but I suspect I don't have near enough in the lens department to get something as cool as this.
Just saw a Red Tailed Hawk land on the side of the paved path at "The Dish" behind Stanford the other day. He landed right next to a jogger who stopped and watched him and stayed put as my girlfriend and I walked up right next to him also, maybe 8-10 feet away. He was pawing at the grass almost like a chicken. I think he was hoping to catch a ground squirrel or mole out of their hole or something. I might have to go camp out there with the 70-200!

    Thanks!

Look for high leafless branches at the edge of fields. They love them for hunting.

We have lots of "pole sitters" here too.

Not being a big bird fan, I generally refrain from commenting on bird pics, but I really like this one!
C&C always welcome. I can't learn if I don't know what I've done wrong or could do better.
