I KNOW! I didn't read this until later, but I went down the list, then had to go back and re-count (twice! like an election) to see how many chads were punched...errr... boxes were checked. I'm pretty sure I got it back down to 10!

This has been discussed in the past several times. It is not against any rules to vote for yourself. I know that some still do. If you feel that your image is in your top ten and your comfortable voting for yourself then go for it.

But the short answer is YES it is discouraged to vote for yourself. I personally would rather win knowing it was others that voted for me rather than myself.

It is of course a personal choice. deal.gif

Like I said it is a personal choice. When you plan on running for mayor you can vote how ever you like, this poll is NOT about running for a political position. :*sip*

Personally I think it is a mistake to show the numbers for the winners at this point in the voting, i.e. with the final vote to come/in progress. It could cause some skewing of the numbers as members look at how the first round was voted. IMHO, it would be better to hide the numbers. The final vote shows the winners of the open round, so numbers could be shown later for the curious....

    Just my 2¢,

As a judge in this experimental round, it took some of the pressure off knowing that the community would be voting as well.

Should everyone be commenting on their top 10? :D

I'd like to make a suggestion regarding the 24 hour preliminary vote. It might be helpful to people who are traveling or juggling other life events if the vote was scheduled & the specific 24 hour period of time listed in the entry post, preferably at the time the challenge is announced (like right after the "It will run from..." sentence there could be something like "24 hour voting starts at 12pm on 12/12."). I could see where you'd need to allow time after close of entries to make sure each shot qualifies, but that would just need to be figured into the schedule. Just a thought.

My thought about the public vote was this: You may have people voting for the worst 9 of the lot plus their own to up their chances of winning. Of course it's all objective, but those who are serious have an idea of what is good and what is not. I wonder if the public voters take as much time studying each shot as the appointed judges who have their reputations on the line. The judges feel pressure; the rest of us do not. We entered and are not impartial. You hate to think the worst about people, but it is a valid point.

For those of you who did thoughtfully vote, good for you! And for those who resisted the urge to vote for themselves....give yourself a pat on the back!
