I have very few shots that include food.
But I do have two.
The folks thought this was a good idea.
, great shot. He's definitely enjoying that ice cream. "The folks thought this was a good idea" - it's one of many subtle ways our parents get back at us after we have kids of our own.
I seem to remember that second one from one of the challenges? Very cute. The eagle shot is amazing!
Great entry Ceci. Looks like a fun festival and lots of great photo opportunities. In the first one is she coring an apple or is that the top of a press? My wife and I were trying to figure it out.

Hi Dave. She's actually juicing the apple into a large bottle. The device is almost like a corer or cork screw but it extracts the juice without the pulp or skin and so doesn't require the mash to be put through a sieve. I'd never seen one of those before.
I got some shots of a horse powered saw as well. The had a Percheron horse on a slanted treadmill and a system of belts to drive the saw. The horse just kept walking on the treadmill while two men manipulated the wood through what looked like a huge bucksaw. Good fun at the festival. Next year I'll stay for the $10 harvest festival dinner - all home cooked yummies. The smell nearly drove me crazy while I was there but unfortunately I had another commitment and had to leave.:cry
Love that one Neal! Also learned something new. Had to read up on wasabi and wasabi flavored peas. I'll have to try them sometime. Anyway, very nice shot and lighting.
This challenge has made me realize that I just don't take pictures of food. I guess I've just never thought about it! I had to really search to find something.
YoungNomad - Great shot! Love the hands, carefully in focus, skillfully preparing. Great job.
Kristen - Really nice shots of the food. And why weren't we invited?!? Looks like it was a fantastic celebration.
Mark - Slow Eater. Apparently they feed the turtles well in NY! I really LOVE cake eater. Great lighting. Only nit is the blown out window in the left. Square crop would be perfect IMHO.
Sherry - Just think about how much time we actually spend on food. It's astonishing when you think about it. 3 squares a day plus all of the time spent planning, preparing, and cleaning up after. Almost every type of life's celebrations include food. It looks like you've got a pretty good cross section. Simple food shot, preparations, and celebration. Very well done.
Greg - I really like the cranberry harvest. Great lines and colors. Nice entry. Cider makes me want to get out to a local cider mill soon! While I was writing this you posted broccoli. I love that one, the color and detail toward the center really draws the eye in.
Great topic! I don't have a lot of food shots (although I might try to take some shots of the cinnamon rolls I feel like baking tonight--it snowed here today!). But here is what I can share:

Finally, one I've shared before... a garden in Skansen park, Stockholm:

Christopher - Beautiful set. I especially like the strawberries. The dappled background lighting is really nice to set off the subject along with the dof and the wood. I also like your choice for background color on the harvest shot. Interesting photo. Looks like some tasty winter food, are those beets on the right?
StueveShots - Very nice. Great point of view for the Honeydukes shot. I don't know what Honeydukes is, but this photo makes me want to go find out. Looks like quite the first harvest. Must be exciting to get that first one since it takes a few years. Great garden shot. The scarecrow adds an interesting element to the photo as does the roof full of grass in the background.
Kate: It was fun! I hope you do get to go sometime. Highly recommend it! (And the photo ops are great!)
Dlscott: Honeydukes is a fictional, magical candy store that came to life this summer when the Wizarding World of Harry Potter opened in Orlando. For a family that has relished the books like ours has, the attention to detail was amazing!
Re the apples: Yes, we waited years. We have six trees...and this year no harvest at all. We had frost at exactly the wrong time--life in the mountains/high desert!
More great shots--I think this is one of the "funnest" challenges we've had!
ghinson - Absolutely LOVE the cranberry shot!!! Great lines and colors and texture! Just told my husband the other day, "someday I'd like to see a cranberry bog." Now I have . . .

Got Milk?
In Flight Meal (hey, it's bird food)
Basking in the shadows of yesterday's triumphs'.
We actually did have a fire later in the evening--a small bonfire was set off to the side for warmth. By dessert course we all voted to move inside!

Thanks, but it wasn't my wedding! We were invited to a friend's wedding in Spain this summer, and I took LOTS of food pictures.
Ok, you're off the hook for the invitations. Your food shots would fit comfortably on an upscale menu though. Excellent job.

I highly recommend the book. It leans more to a "why-to" than a "how-to", but even ignoring that, it has some really amazing pictures.
Sorry for the digression.
