hi everyone, i'm a newbie here. this is my first posting of pics. looks like a great site with a lot of participation. hoping to jump in and find a place to hang out!! i'm a pretty laid back person. only been shooting for a couple years and only started shooting motorsports in the last two months. really enjoying and looking to learn so dont be shy with the feedback!!!

thanks everyone! allen, i was probably about 50 feet? close enough that you could use a 200mm lens and get full frame shots.

I am such a dork:
So if the car fills the frame, with the nose along one side of the frame and the tail along the other, as it passes you and you are looking directly at the side of the car, you would be about 130 feet from it.
makes perfect sense to me. i was wrong in my 50'. it was more like a sand wedge away which is about a 50-70 yard shot for me. 150'. yep, i think that's a better number!!

Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints
If you are going to pan, have something other than the track in the background. As you pan that blurs and will give a nice measure of the speed.
