superb
absolutely superb shots and fabulous skills. But wouldn't it be nice, to have some meta tag indications included, such as exposure, cameras used, lens, etc???
With only one more weekend to go, I figure I'm probably safe posting these images as my top 10 from 2010. Not all of them are landscapes, but the majority of them are.
I haven't even finished processing all my images from 2009 yet, so instead of calling these my "best of 2010," I'll call them "the best I've processed from 2010 so far (plus a couple honorable mentions)!"
HM - Autumn Sunrise, Lake Hodges
HM - Ocotillo Dreamin', Anza Borrego Desert
10 - Last Shot of the Day, La Jolla Cove
9 - Reflections, Lake Hodges
8 - Layers, Escalante Pueblo, Anasazi Heritage Center
7 - Escalante Pueblo Pano, Anasazi Heritage Center
Here's my pick
These are mostly in chronilogical order. Next week, I might choose a different group of 10 but this is my current list.
#1 Heart of gold, Neuchatel Switzerland
#2 Paris from the roof of Galleries Lafayette
#3 St Français, Paris
#4 Chambord
#5 La Collégiale de Neuchatel, Neuchatel Switzerland
#6 La Collégiale de Neuchatel, Neuchatel Switzerland

#8 La Collégiale de Neuchatel, Neuchatel Switzerland
#9 La Collégiale de Neuchatel, Neuchatel Switzerland
#10 La Collégiale de Neuchatel, Neuchatel Switzerland
Jaw dropping work so far people. I'm so jealous of the folks who live out west.
I humbly offer my best of 2010. Insofar as it goes, I have definitely improved as a photographer, due in no small part, to viewing the other work here on dgrin.
I decided to man up and post some of my best shos of 2010. I'm still "new" to photography. I purchased my first dslr (rebel xs) in may of 2009. All of these images are taken with that little guy, except my last one which is with my new 60D. I definitely don't stack up to some of the other photographers here, but considering my experience level and such I'm pretty happy.
this is in chronological order:
1. The Neighbors
2. Simpson Springs Sunset
3. East Canyon Oaks
4. Sea of Yellow
5. August Flowers
6. Peaceful Morning
7. Day Dream
8. Lake Powell Magic
9. Fall Has Fallen

What a wonderful collection! I had been away from dgrin for awhile and these photos (along with those on the wildlife thread) reminded why I came here in the first place - a great way to be inspired and learn more about photography! I appreciate the posts and descriptions of these photos. They make me want to return to the places I have been and travel to the places I haven't yet seen in person.
I find photography a wonderful, humbling adventure. In the spirit of those who contributed photos even though they may not have felt that their photos "measured up" I will add a few favorites from 2010, in no particular order.
10. Leaf Jam on the Pennypack River in Pennysylvania
8. The Male Room (a rural orphanage started by villagers in the Kisii region of Kenya)
7. Cornfield in Kenya (looking out the front door of a home in Kisii, Kenya)
The people seem to make good use of every bit of land they have. The door really is bright blue!
6. Sunset in Masai Mara region of Kenya
5. Walking on Ridge in the Alps (quick stop in Switzerland)
4. Winter Aconite (Pennsylvania)
3. Sunset on Captiva in Florida
2. Door (hardly a landscape)
1. Sunset on Marco Island (this is actually from August 2009 but is one of my all-time favorites)
Sometimes it is easier to get the mental snapshots than good photographic images but I keep trying!
Thank you again for the inspiration. I have been enjoying reading the landscape threads. Happy 2011 everyone!
I love this shot (not mine, but previous poster, Gareth)

Feast for the Eyes! Part 1
Many years ago I went to see an exhibition of Galen Rowell's photos in Chicago and bought his book, Mountain Light. Many of the photos posted here [in this thread] reminded me of his work. Thank you all.
It would take all night to mention all the ones I am drawn toward, but here are a few of my favorites from this thread - in the order they were posted. [Note: I only got part way through the thread and will come back later to finish.]
@Chrismoore - #10 Illuminations the lupine draw me in but the execution of the photo keeps me there
Also love #9 Sandstone Cascades [not shown here] and the rich texture of #6 Emerald Flow
@Brickeson - Love #10 of the Wave in Arizona and this shot of the Mesa arch.
@Jamesl - Great to see this shot in the Maroon Bells - a place I want to get back to now that I know a little bit more about photography...
Also loved your captures of storm clouds and Turret Arch.
@ BradTroy - Nice shot of the Muir Woods!
@SCole - I love 3,4,8 and 11. Here is #4 Standouts - Mount Baker Ski Area"
@eoren1 - Love #3 Early Morning in Vermont (and that I could click through to see it larger. )
#5 The Fourth [not shown] and #7 Marshland Sunrise (shown below) also pull me.
@Dwayne Oakes - Love 8 Spring Thaw and the one pictured below, Trail of Arches.
@ bgarland - Love your shot of Antelope Canyon (shown below) and the Tucson sunset!
@Bryans12v - Love #1 Year's First Storm [not pictured here] and #8 Sandy Point Sunrise
I hope to come back with Feast for the Eyes! Part 2
Final note: As you can see, I am trying to follow the advice I saw somewhere on dgrin about downsizing the images that I include here in this collection. Hope that's OK. Btw, I love it when I can click on a photo and see it even larger on someone's SmugMug page, allowing me to see more of the details!
Sapphire, I'm amazed that any of my photos were included in your summary. As an amateur getting kudos in this mix of all these phenomenal photogs is an extreme compliment. Thank you.

So this finishes my [crazy] attempt to comment on some of the photos posted as favorite landscapes in 2010. This thread tells me that there a lot of great photographers sharing their work here and that I have a lot to learn (and can benefit from seeing what you all are doing).
@Trey Hoff - Really like the Mesa Verde shots and #10 Alpen Glow on Mt Heyburn as well as #2 White Domes [pictured]
@Bryanj87 - Great capture at James Turner Reservoir (#3)
Also like #8 at Newport (my birthplace)
@KarlAbbott - I like #10 waterfall on Cedar Rock Creek!

Bgarland and Wicked_Dark, you are welcome. In the light of day, it seems presumptuous of me to think that I might add something to this thread by noting some of my favorites but it just seemed a little late to comment on individual posts when many of the images were pretty far back in the thread.
I spent a little time catching up on the Muench University thread last night and am glad that you/we have such expert input available to us. I wish I could go on the Catalina trip but have just booked a trip the week before. Someday.... In the meantime, I will try to learn more about post-processing.
no worries at all, we're a pretty easy group around here. someday I'd love to do a trip with Muench, too. last year I just about died I couldn't do Death Valley since it's one of my favorite places on earth. someday...someday.

Beyond that, I sadly didn't do much landscape work this year. All of my favorites are from one short trip.
