Well, I'm pretty new here and may be way outta my league with an attempt at Best of 2010, but I'm gonna barge in anyway.
I sometimes feel out of my league here too! Looking through your photos I have to disagree with you though! I really like the "Innocence of Youth" / "Exhaustion" shots (especially when viewed sequentially). I think "Innocence" is a pretty strong contender for the Mini-challenge.
it made me go back and look at the year. it also made me realize i need a better monitor at home.
by and large, i am still amazed i've been able to take some of the shots i have and i am humbled that i get to play with all of you, and not suck (all the time, anyway).
One more thing that i'm noticing, i'm getting better at PP, and in a lot of instances i have to stop myself from going back and "fixing" issues that i didn't know how to resolve when i took the original image, or before i upgraded from elements to CS3.

Nice stuff Bill! Didn't remember the flamingo shot was yours. Just terrific. I also love the next one, Becky. Very nice!
Hmmm... I've never posted the flamingo anywhere but my Smugmug gallery. There must have been a similar one here? If you come across it again, I'd like to take a look.
The one of Becky (my beautiful wife) has a fun story. We were on a wine tasting trip and she was peaking out of the ladies room window. The wine tasting host started yelling at me not to take pictures into the bathroom.

Thank you for the comments in my gallery Bill (billseye) and Marjohn (imagesofhim).

You're welcome, Kevin. Earlier, I was in the middle of providing some responses to all who had posted - then I clicked where I shoulda clacked and lost a my post before I could submit it.
Anyway, what I intended to say to you was thanks for the initiative to make this Best of 2010 happen. It's a very cool way to send folks to some really nice photo work that we might not see otherwise.
In your gallery I particularly like the first image (boots), the infared winding road with the ruby slippers is whimsical and fun, but the best of bunch for me is the guard at the tomb of the unknowns. It's always tough to capture such a well-known location, but your photo is quite effecting in conveying more emotion and thought than the typical... "hey, here's a famous place."
I did a lot of digital painting this year to so some of that work was added too.
Finally had time to look through your gallery Joyce. You have a lot of great images from 2010. I still LOVE the one of the woodpecker! Thanks for sharing.

One day, I started writing, not knowing that I had chained myself for life to a noble but merciless master. When God hands you a gift, he also hands you a whip; and the whip is intended solely for self-flagellation...I'm here alone in my dark madness, all by myself with my deck of cards --- and, of course, the whip God gave me." Truman Capote

Thanks Kevin!
This was a learning trip with Curt (concord977) and Eric (esc2476) who both shared tips about shooting at night.

Great gallery! I'm particularly fond of "visual cliche" and "yosemite"! Can't wait to see what this year holds!
