Regardless of your gallery settings, the share button will show for account owners when you are logged in. This is a convenience for you. If you have easy sharing set to "no" your visitors will not see the button, but you will, when you are logged in.

More in our release notes.

One of my biggest gripes has been about the Social features - I love the new setup, specifically the Facebook integration, which will only help me drive more traffic from my Facebook page to the site that actually contains the galleries!

Is it possible to move the "Be Social" button from the "Share" menu? It's the only feature I particularly want my customers to have access too, and hiding under a "Share" menu is just one more click between them and sharing to FB.

Might be a way via customizing - ask the experts in the customizing forum, thanks!

Why is the term "Facebook" still buried in the sharing UI? It takes two clicks to find the term Facebook that you then have to click on to actually get there. As they say in the press, "You've buried the lead."

Of my viewers, 99% are going to know about Facebook. 90% will have been on Facebook. Less than 5% will have even heard of Tumblr or Posterous and probably less than 1% will have actually ever been on either. Now, of those 99% that know of Facebook, what percentage is every going to find it in the UI under Share/Be Social? Very few.

You've hidden the option 98% of the population wants in order to make a generic UI for all social sharing.

You've buried the lead. Not a wise design choice.

I can't agree with John more. 2 click is WAY too many clicks to find where to share a link on Facebook. And what does "Be Social" mean? Just call it what it is... "FACEBOOK". Sure maybe a submenu for twitter but it's all about Facebook.

I know I asked this before and I was very patient while SM updated to the new FB integration. Is there ANY way to at least have the FB Like button at least open up the "Be Social" pop up dialog box?

Also... the advanced settings are great. But I don't want my user to be able to control them. These should be for us to set for the user to post. Because honestly... if I don't know what they are without looking them up. I can't expect a high school student to.

Thank you SM for all your hard work.

hmm, when I use tumblr now from my site it doesn't seem to be posting to tumbler correctly.

    http://racecarshots.tumblr.com/

    very odd.

The top two that have the strange formatting are from this morning, the rest are from before.

So right now, it's not working for me at all ... I can click the Be Social button to see the social screen, and it defaults to Twitter - but I don't see anything changing when I click on the links for the other social networks ...

This is on three browsers on one machine, two browsers on another - both on different networks.

    Anyone else seeing this?

I'd also like to see way clearer options for posting to Facebook - my customers don't care about anything but Facebook (neither do I). The "Like" box is pointless to me unless it takes a thumbnail with it (which FB don't allow), so the Share on FB option is the way to go.

I have asked in the customization forums before, but it never seems to happen.

Wait ... It's working fine for some galleries, but not for others.

Sharing does not work for anything in this gallery:

    http://www.rt2photo.com/Events/TheLuvShow/

But does for anything in this gallery:

    http://www.rt2photo.com/Events/TempleCon2011/Performances/

Tested in Chrome and IE8 on the same machine, just new tabs launched ...

I agree with what some others have said here. I wish the "Share" button was only for "Be Social" - make it pop up with the be social box and make "get a link" and "email" part of the options. Forget the other stuff under "share" - too many clicks!

Social Bookmarking and "Follow me" don't really belong there...

I just got word from the heros that if you have line breaks in the gallery description it might not work.

Unfortunately I have line breaks in almost all of my gallery descriptions.

Mine are not working as well.
Thank you in advance for your patience - we'll get it sorted and besocial will work with your galleries that have descriptions with line breaks.

    Stay tuned.

I'm also having problems with Tumblr and the new version of Be Social. Before the changes I would share a photo to Tumblr and it would then pass it on to Facebook with a thumbnail of my photo, now it just posts the text and no photo appears on facebook

Hey racecarshots, so we changed the post type from Photo to Article for Tumblr, so that you could have more formating options when composing the post. I will see about getting a drop down menu added so that you can chose which type of post you want, which would allows you to continue using it the way you have been. That sound okay?

There is a comparable issue with line breaks (carriage returns) in image captions also. Staying tuned...

BigRed, I'm investigating yours now. It's interesting, if I cut and paste your caption into one of my photos, it seems to work fine. I'll get to the bottom of it and see if we can get it remedied.

Seems to be working for me now - thank you!

Now, how I can get the Facebook sharing out from two layers deep of menus where no one ever finds it, and link it from the picture page itself (Like the Download Image hack for originals)? :D

Actually it looks like changing the advanced options to center justified it helps. But the problem is still when you see that post in the dashboard its a tiny thumbnail and not an image like most posts. That drop down would be helpful.

Weird. While you're debugging, I removed the jfriend script that hides portions of the Share menu, but that didn't have any effect. The only image that works is the one that has only a one-line caption, the 3rd image in the gallery http://www.janicebrowne.com/Mid-Atlantic/Wildflowers/Spring.

Good idea. But in the meantime: What are the Advanced Settings defaults for Facebook? It looks like once I change an option, a cookie holds that selection for the next photo; but I didn't notice where it started.

One more little glitch... When the Be Social popup opens in a gallery with External Links set to NO, why does the Facebook option appear at the left? At first, I thought it might give me an option to post a link without an image, but there isn't a Facebook login button under the message box. Seems like the Facebook option should just be removed -- like everything else except Twitter already has been.
