...I haven't been there, but based on your photos I think I need to add it to my list of places to visit.

Ohh... it's a fantastic place to visit - I'm sure you would love it Denise! He was super wealthy and collected and imported
an astounding amount of Spanish, Baroque, and European antiques, furnishings and building elements, like entire ceilings.
The grounds (atop a mountain) are nearly as impressive as the home.

Thanks Tatiana!
This is Hearst Castle in San Simeon, California. William Randolph Hearst was a wealthy publisher and the grandfather of Patty Hearst (if you know that story) They offer guided tours - it's really worth a visit!
Eric, you brought back memories for me - the one and only time I was at Hearst Castle was in 1974. It was during the time that Patty Hearst was kidnapped and on the very day that then-President Nixon was indicted in the Watergate scandal. We heard the announcement on the radio playing in the public waiting area. Interesting times...
My photos of the day are somewhere in a slide tray and are with certainty not anything like your splendid images! Thanks for sharing.

Wow, I thought it was some place in Europe. Very impressive! - No, I didn't know about it - I may be able to visit it one day, maybe...

Thanks Sara, glad to share - it's such an unusual venue...
And, yes, there were a few crazy things happening then - a little excitement in an otherwise fairly mundane decade.
Speaking of slide trays... now, you have reminded me of the boxes of slides and prints lurking deep in my closet... neglected, dusty, mostly forgotten... so sad, that I'm so lazy.
Right now I'm constantly being reminded of such things. I recently made a quick trip to California to help my sister go through all of the family stuff before her move to a new house. We have albums of family pictures dating back to the 1860's!!!! I ended up with all of the family slides and our pictures from the 40's to the present for eventual sorting through and digitalizing. Egads - my retirement will not be boring!! And not to mention my own thousands of slides and pictures. Yikes!
THat's because Richard really knows how to play the game. Not just post another similar image. Play off unexpected elements! I try to do that when I play this one and some of the other games.
Keeps us on our toes! Right Richard...
Don
I try to go for the unexpected and like it when others do as well--it just seems to be more fun that way. There used to be more of that. If you scroll back in this thread, you can find some of the more original associations, including a few that were so obscure that nobody could figure them out . But the game is what people make of it--the main thing is to see great images .
Don't worry, Tatiana, this game doesn't always move a quickly as the others, which is actually nice. Often a day or so elapses before the next entry.
We all get a chance to really consider what the next photo could be and as Richard said above, perhaps go for the unexpected - make the others really THINK about the relationship between the photos.

Another great thing about
However, yesterday was very dynamic, so I thought it will go quite fast - that's OK, I was only a little worried
I really like the lighting and composition here Denise... the low angle captures the wave nicely!
Thank you Eric!
This was at a favorite spot, the Parker River National Wildlife Refuge. The place belongs to the birds - the beach closes April 1st each year for the piping plover nesting season, usually reopening in August or September.
