Wow, so this was yours!.... it was one of the photos I admired for looong time in the old dgrin challenges, but I didn't know who you were...
* Not that I know now, but I know more than at that time
Thanks to both. It was a happy accident--I was actually just trying to get a sea of habits when one of the nuns suddenly turned with that great smile. :ivar

Sara, I wouldn't be surprised if this is in the same neighborhood:
Pieter, my photo was taken at Candes St. Martin just where the Vienne flows into the Loire. Looks like yours was in the neighborhood - is that the railroad bridge by Saumur or is it farther down?
The City liked it too. It was in a City Hall Gallery Show awhile ago.

Thanks Richard - that's one of my "fake macro" shots, taken by zooming close with my long lens. This was taken a couple of years ago - we were in Tyrol for Christmas and were overjoyed when it finally snowed the day AFTER Christmas.
Thanks Denise! I know I stared for a long time at Richard's shot trying to figure out where the reflection was coming from, & where it was going - the angles, buildings, the human element & lily pads(?) in the sky are just awesome, really draws me in!
For mine, saw an article on "ring of fire" shots using a metal pipe/ring (http://www.diyphotography.net/create-ring-fire-effect-camera/) so I asked my hubbie to cut the bottom off an old nasty silverish candle holder that turned out to be brass, but kept getting my fingers in the shots. Hubbie came to the rescue & made a plexi holder (he's pretty handy to have around!). I soon discovered that if I held it away from the lens further & faced away from the light, I'd catch a reflection in the plexi. This shot was from Living Statues at the Fisch Haus (Ballet Wichita). Here's a quick phone shot of my new toy:
And a shot taken with me holding the ring & my finger darkening the corner (also showing off my beautiful daughter). The ring really creates some cool effects & distortion & I've been having fun playing with it.

Thanks for the explanation and the shot of your tool!
Indeed! That's why I immediately thought of my shot when Tatiana poster hers. Mine is a mural in Gouda (Netherlands), don't know where Tatiana's picture was taken.

This is wonderful. It looks like something out of the movie Avatar. Nicely seen.

I love this Richard (not just because I am a cow fan ). It looks like the cow is going to jump out and surprise the lady!
These are both fabulous!
