Dear Ginger,

I'm one of editors for Kodak's Picture of the Day -- and I'm writing
to say Congratulations!

"The Lemonade Stand " has been accepted for Picture of the Day
and will appear October 3, 2005 on the Home Page of kodak.com
http://www.kodak.com
and every few minutes on the Kodak Times Square Gallery
in New York City.

Thank you for submitting this picture, and in reminding us of the
important role each of us can have in "people helping people."

Best regards,

Thanks all. It was the second lemonade stand, Andy. The one w Katrina aid.

I think I mentioned that those children were on the same island that was destroyed by a hurricane in 1989, in fact, I don't think I mentioned this, but there was a house in the middle of the street where that hurricane surge put the house, it was just about where that lemonade stand was in the photo.

That was my island. I really think I played on that in my story, but then everyone had lemonade stands, and I didn't think I had a chance. The local paper didn't take it.

No one is going to be in NYC that day, are they????

I e-mailed one of the mother's of the kids. I hope they are happy about it.

Andy, you are the one who told me that it really was a good photo. I was disappointed and thought everyone else had a better one............. maybe it was the dog, gotta be the dog.

Well, I am just swinging from a star right now. When I come down???

How much is a ticket to NYC?

Does the plane land right there in Times Square?:lurk

ginger (Sunday is a perfect day for the theme of the photo, but a terrible day to get people to take photos. Do you suppose that Letterman might?)

    Check the web for airfares...

Oh no, it won't land in Times Square. :D You can fly into Newark, LaGuardia or JFK and probably take public transportation from there. LaGuardia is the closest but I seem to remember something about bus or subway when I was out at JFK.

What a great excuse for a short trip to NYC!

So, Ginger, what's the problem, post the darn picture!

This absolutely made my day. Great news. Now we're going to have to invent some higher goal for you, eh? I think you can do whatever you set your heart on.
    If not now, when?

Andy got it right, it is on page ONE of this thread!!!

I am still floating, cloudy here today, big time cloudy, not pretty, just cloudy. No photo ops that I know of, but never can tell!

ginger (On cloud NINE, is that the cloud? Think it is!)

I was reading USAToday, accessed my mail in a little box, as I do, and there was this KODAK thing. I recognized it right off, took my brain a bit to catch up to the immediate reaction I had. I will never forget that feeling!

I'm sooooo happy for you!!! It's wonderful.

If you can scrape the cash together its sooooo worth going to NY to see it. Dear husband dragged me up there in a snow storm that would have stopped everyone else and I'm so glad he did. We stayed in a decent hotel right in Times Square for $109 a night.. soon as I remember the name I'll email you. If you can possibly go please try to... it's such a rush to see it up there in real life..

p.s. I remembered.. Milford Plaza here

I missed this thread. I'm so sorry. I've been working and only popped in for a minute here and there. I first saw it on Rutt's thread about the Kpotd community. So I went looking for your thread. I new it had to be here somewhere.

Congratulations!! I hope you can hear me shouting all the way to Charlston. I told you something timely would do it. That was a really cute shot. I'm so happy for you. Now keep on sending them in. You'll build that gallery right up.

    Way to go girlthumb.gifthumbthumb.gif

More kudos. . . Very nice shot, Ginger! Very deserving of all the accolades you receiving!

Even now, the crowds are gathering in Times Square to see your shot. . .

See them all waiting? I think that's Andy right in the middle - the one with the 5D.

Fabulous news Ginger, I loved those shots, and yes kids and dogs are a great mix so I'm sure the dog's presence helped and he wasn't over-featured, just part of the gang.
