Great topic!! Roads are one of my very favorite subjects and I am enjoying seeing all of these terrific shots. All seasons, snow, leaves, dirt, freeways, night, day . . . such fun to look at them all!

    Here are mine:

    1. Highway 337, Texas Hill Country (a favorite for motorcycle riders)
    1236234390_bowHd-L.jpg

    2. Watch out for cattle!
    1236241870_RPSrh-L.jpg

    3. Water over the road!

Great images everyone! Keep them coming. Lauren (Redleash), your Water Over The Road image makes me feel homesick. (Born in Laredo and been a misplaced Texan since I was five.) Nothing like a little caliche road to remind someone where they came from.

Kev - Glad you liked the caliche road. It actually leads to an old cemetery, but I wasn't willing to drive through the water to find it. Come on back to TX one of these days and we'll got out for a shoot. Cheers, Lauren

Joyce - I like your "Alaskan Dream" shot . . . Great colors, and I can see this as a big image in the Anchorage airport.:D

Ok, I'm a MAJOR newbie both to this forum as well as to photography. . .

Hey JustRambling - welcome to DGrin!! Nice shots from the walking path. These rail trails might just be some of the best money our fair state has spent.

Not sure you noticed, but the very first post of this thread shows the rules - 1 to 3 images - not sure what Kevin will do if you leave him with 4 to choose from. Personally - I'd leave all 4 and just tell him which one not to judge.

Watching UConn right now - hoping for the best clap.gif.

Hmmm. Turns out I don't do a lot of roads...but here are three that may suffice:

    1. Finally arrived. Gamla Stan, Stockholm, Sweden.

    2. Exploring the back roads. Gotland Island, Sweden.

    roads i've traveled
#1 - it is a street, really... just because there's tables and chairs and people eating and drinking and having fun it doesn't stop it being a street.

    772897641_Xkxv3-M.jpg

#2 - the going to the sun highway in glacier national park. really spectacular road (that's my car on the left).
    942519360_B6VK7-M.jpg

#3 - last but not least... i won't say that i came close to dying on this road, but i will say that i have never suffered so much for my art. this is near the top of one of Mexico's highest mountains 'El Nevado de Toluca'. i figure we were around 14,000 ft by then (give or take a couple of hundred) and we were on it for about 2 hours. there's no air up there. and for me, sea-level dwelling creature that i am, it was hard finding enough oxygen. so... please excuse the lack of technical merit and consider the fact that i really think i'm lucky i managed to take a few salvageable shots at all.

Sorry for the forced absence everyone. Work rose it's ugly head this week. But I see y'all have been busy without me. There are a lot of great images here. Just over 24 hours left. Keep 'em coming.
