I was all ready to respond, but then I realized that I have an inordinate number of rock photos. I'll have to do some reviewing and then I'll get back to you :)

If you can capture an image of them it would.:D Just be careful inserting probe through your ear, some damage could occur.

    Rust on the Rocks
The Stonehammer Geopark is North America's first UNESCO designated site. It covers hundreds of square miles near where I live. These shots were taken near the Moosehorn Creek site. They were initially discovered when the area was blasted to create a new 4-lane highway. Some are said to be up to 350 MILLION years old:D

There is also an abundance of iron in the earth here causing the rocks to literally appear rusted, particularly at sunrise and sunset (when these shots were taken).

Okay, I got nuthin' on you guys, but here goes anyway.

Found these two examples of Magnetic Hematite on my honeymoon while walking with my wife. Photo taken in my light tent.
    Hematite-1-L.jpg

This was taken at a nearby nature preserve. From a not-so natural fountain outside one of the buildings on the property.

And finally, this is a breakwater at nearby High Cliff State Park in WI.
