Harry, I truly love these shots you posted. I enjoyed reading about your Africa trip and viewing all of the fantastic images you posted. I would have had a very difficult time just picking 3 favorites from that bunch. That said, I really love the momma lion cleaning her cub. thumb.gif

    Andy, that elephant is awesome.

I don't really photograph wildlife (unless you count my very domesticated felines), but I was able to catch a couple of deer this week. Almost embarrassed to post my little snap after your gorgeous works of art though, but here it is anyway.

I don't shoot wild critters much, but the snake is my fave from 2011 - captured with a Kodak point-and-shoot ...

    1 - The Rookery

This is a sad pic. This Rookery was destroyed by a tornado shortly after this pic was taken.

    2 - Badlands

Went to the Badlands again this year. Lots of good shots from there, this is one of my favs.

    IMG5024-1-XL.jpg

    3 - Swan

I take so many swan shots during the winter, I have to include one of those.

Hopefully I'll get out more this year than last.

Its easy to see why you had them printed up. I've done the same wth a few of mine. I'm counting the days until we go back to Africa.

    Finally a Bear
After trying for 15 years to get a decent shot of the Louisiana Black Bears that live on Avery Island, my husband and I finally had a few chances over about a month's time this fall. The amazing thing to see over the month was how much weight the bear gained, eating acorns to prepare for the denning season:

    1. Early shot of the bear (same bear in all 3 photos)

    2011-L.jpg

    2. Another early shot:

    3. Last shot:

Happy New Year to all! Best, Pam

Well, I'm a little embarrased to post, in light of the quality of photos here, but this one intrigued me despite the lack of crispness of the fish...

Bob... I just love that wood duck on the copper colored water. I saw that on the daily photos a while back and the color of that water just makes it pop out at me. Beautiful photograph.

Wow, really really cool shots so far. I hope mine can run with this field:

A picture of a stargazer, a tropical marine fish that lies buried in the sand, waiting for prey. If there is a small fish above him, the tongue darts out to catch the prey. Padre Burgos, Philippines:

A tiny tiny commensal shrimp on the surface of a sea star, I liek the textures. The shrimp is about 5 mm long. Malapascua, Philippines.

Harry - Thank you for the kind comment. I feel that I owe my improvement to my now limited abilities in part to you sir ..... Early on when I was posting images on this forum that I now would never considering posting, you and others were kind, yet offered constructive comments and advice. I can only take credit for listening and trying to learn from each comment.

    THANK YOU

Thank you so much Bob. What you describe is what I hope this forum has been and will continue to be. When I returned to photography it was the critque, encouragement, and support I received from other photographers that assisted me also. Every day I draw inspiration from the work I see here.
