The photo I love! The texture I am not feeling. I really like textured photos as I try of mine from time to time, but I like the ones that add to the image, not overtake it. I feel the texture is more the subject here than the girl behind it. Just my thoughts. I admire your work and it is fun seeing others trying new things as well. :-)

Hack, what happens if you use that texture with a different blending mode? I think the texture itself is kinda neat, but it overpowers the lovely lady... soft light? Overlay? Just curious............

I did this as a WOW factor. I'm sure most of you know the WOW gets them in the studio and then they buy the BLAH ones. This was my first attempt.....stay tuned, more to come, unfortunately.

I think what is throwing me off is the color. Maybe more feminine colors would work better? I've never been a fan of textured backgrounds, but keep trying. I'd like to see where this goes.

I think that background texture would work better, maybe even great, if it were in shades of black and grey.

Have you tried using that background texture in black and white and leaving the original in color?

I think it's nicely conceived and well executed.

While it is a little off the mark for me I do believe if you ask a wider and non photographer type audience you may get an entirely different opinion.

I like those better. Actually, I. Like having more open space around her in the red one but I like the coloring and general look of the black one. Either way it should get their attention.

Simple is better. You got such a beautiful style, no need to cheese it up like that - only people that don't know what they're doing do stuff like that, you're WAY above and beyond! iloveyou.gif

I think at times some of the posters here forget the commercial aspect of photography. Many do it as a hobby and a passion and are completely wrapped up in the taste and art aspect. Others do it as a business and rely on photography as their sole lively hood.

If this girl and her parents decide to purchase one of these as a 40x60 gallery wrap to the tune of 600.00, to me, it is a WONDERFUL image.

Charles, I do like the black one best.

Gotta agree with you there. I honestly can't count the number of times a client has chosen some shots and all i can think is "REALLY???!!!!", but there we have it.

Hack, with these I still think I personally would prefer them if the texture vignettes were just less prominent; lower the opacity, change the blending mode.... just a little *less*. I actually like the concept, I just think they scream for a little too much attention thumb.gif

Hack, I am a fan of your work...always excited to see that you posted (yes, I am more of a lurker). But this one...not so much. 80's glamor shots. Napoleon Dynamite reference: "Glamor Shots By Deb".

With that said...if it gets customers in the door then who cares what anyone here thinks! ;)

Quite like RHS one in #12, btw - and yes, I can also see non-togs / 'civilians' going for this sort of thing.
