New Design

I see a major design problem in that the slideshow and cart buttons steal some gallery width from the
gallery description. Without 100% gallery description width some page designs will not work.

Found a solution but not sure is really way to go. Also can not find way to specify galleries. Can not
find gallery number and key.
   /* move buttons up to unused space */
.sm-gallery-buymenu,
.sm-gallery-slideshow-button {
position: relative;
top: -180px;
}

.sm-gallery-description {width: 100%;}
The above does not seem to work for a 100% text/html gallery description.

Clicking photo in lightbox does not close it, have to locate X in upper right corner.

I'm getting PROOF watermarks on a lot of larger sizes. Original site has correct watermarks.

    No Random option on the slideshow in the new design. Trying to port a look alike site to the new design with all the customizations I've made over the years sounds tough indeed.
    If you migrate prematurely there is no going back! I'll have to ponder this for a while.

    Remove the "UNVEIL NEW SMUGMUG" button from every page. Too easy to accidentally click it.
    Put it in one place somewhere where it's obvious to click and what it means. This can destroy your whole
    site if you're not ready.

    just clicking the button won't unveil your site. beyond that button is a confirmation screen where you have to type in the word 'unveil', and then click another button.

    Everyone, not to worry. If you click Unveil accidentally on the next page it will ask you to confirm. Really hard to accidentally unveil...

    This is what you will see if you click Unveil - https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/283274/sc4/20130730200323-00069x2320203.jpg

    The migrate function did not work well at all for me.

    I can log into my account using ANY username and password on my computer. At least on my computer my site is no longer password protected.

    There is no back button or reset button. I have created an experimental temporary account and in 10 minutes I have it so confused that I will have to abandon it and create a new one.

    I would also like a Blank template. All of the existing templates are not to my liking If I could just start with a blank page It would be easier.

    On one page I get a dialog asking if I want to Publish now. On others I see your unveil now, are you sure, message. I'm still afraid to proceed. there is so much to loose.
    Does Publish mean to save your style but not unveil? I can't get beyond the first one I created.

    "Done" button is very confusing. What if I want to cancel anything I might have done.
    We need a "Cancel" or "Go Back" button.

    "Publish" and "Publish Later" very confusing. What if I don't want any of the changes if I happen to make any?

    personally im too concerned about trashing my site going through the no going back migrate option. do watermarks also migrate with the pictures ?
    i sell images most days and upload them to personal galleries where my clients download them, i cant risk this all going wrong while im trying to build a new site :/

    at this point i don't see too many of us pro's rushing in, way to much to loose. i would be far happier if i new that what i do in the new smug will have no affects what so ever on my current site. Its the "no going back" that scares me....

    Again, you are just in a preview mode if you migrate. It's a sandbox that you can play in :). No changes will be pushed live unless you click "unveil" then literally type in "unveil" into the text box on your migrated SmugMug site. Feel free to play around, you won't break anything!

    The "drag and drop" customizing is cool, but none of my pictures or galleries migrated to my "new" site.

    Took barely minutes to migrate and give my page a fresh new look. Thanks.

    None of my settings that I had set on my "legacy" page were lost in the migration. Hidden galleries, passworded ones, securities, ect.. were just as I had them previously.

    but I have to say what I love most so far, is the organizer. I just did in 30 mins what I have been putting off or years. SO Easy, and dare I say, intuitive. Thanks!

    so what you are saying is the warning dialog box that pops up saying that any changes made to galleries will affect the existing site configuration is not true?

    Well I can't say how excited I am with the new look. I migrated my site and it looks fantastic. I've been a smugmug user for a number of years and look forward to my continued relationship with you dudes. Great job. Happy, Happy Happy....

    Cheers,

    Stop being afraid :)

    PUBLISH does it ONLY FOR YOU. "Unveil" does it for the world - and it's a TWO STEP unveil.

    Go have fun and stop looking for sores where there aren't any. SmugMug did a great job here :D

    This is all scaring the heck out of me.

    Good grief Shawn. You're a smart guy. Go and migrate. Play with all the new looks. NOTHING is done publicly until you hit "Unveil" - and even that is a TWO STEP process where you physically have to TYPE THE WORDS UNVEIL and then click a button.

    SmugMug hit it out of the park with this - giving you and everyone a chance to see and play around without your adoring public seeing what you are doing. Take advantage of it, man.

    But (if I understand correctly) as soon as you switch to preview mode you can no longer add galleries to your old site, everything new goes into some "Smug Preview" category.

    Is that right?

    The galleries would go into Smug Preview on your Legacy site, but you can always click "View Legacy SmugMug" and move those galleries to different categories, just like always.

    thats my concern but i think its only galleries added in the new smug that show as a preview in old smug, and galleries added in old smug are as normal ?

    I'm glad you think so. I'm not so sure. At some point I have to unveil and there is no turning back. I have spent years tweaking my site and I think it looks pretty good. I can not get the same site as a starting point. All my customizations will be lost.

    The slideshow is not as good as the very customizable one I have now. It doesn't even have the option of random or different fades. I don't want to loose my comments. And I don't like being insulted for being "afraid".

    This new smugmug may be easier for newbies but there is nothing great about loosing all my hard work. I haven't had a chance to explore but I bet there will be little smugmug logos that can't be eliminated.
