I see the "Click Here to See the New Smug Mug" button on my web site. Not a snowball's chance in hell I'm clicking that thing. Heard and read some horror stories. Thanks, Smug Mug. I'm thinking seriously of pulling my (thousands upon thousands) photos out of here.

Smart move. I regret now for not waiting to read users reviews.

With any new changes, we always hear complaints first but in this case some basic fundamental features for photo viewing are messed up like slideshow. No auto-sizing to full screen anymore. Looks like they designed the site with smartphone and tablet users in mind but even on them I prefer the smugmug app which smugmug purchased recently from a third party developer as their app sucked for years.

    Agreed! :D:D

Why would you ever move your photos to some other site before at least trying out the new site? This sounds silly and more like fear of what might happen. What do you have to lose in trying it first besides the possibility you might actually like it? Most of the complaints seem centered around certain favorite features lost. If you move somewhere else will it have all those features plus a modern design for similar cost? ne_nau.gif

I have been getting endless emails from customers who at first had the same reaction as you. Then they migrate, play with it, start to love it, and within 24 hours unveil their beautiful new site. But, you don't need to. We built this so you do not have to migrate now. You can stay on legacy until you feel you are getting more positive reviews.

Very smart move, however you might want to be sure your site is still intact.

I never migrated, or even clicked the Preview button, and still my legacy site was modified (as were many others it seems).

I did migrate and went live, got my website looking pretty sharp last night. Today ... it's hosed and I can't even access it. I'm about ready to bail on this whole shootin match. It's not worth the $$ or my frustration at this point. :(

Check with GoDaddy, looks like your domain has expired. I'm quite pleased with the new Smugmug. Took the opportunity to revamp my site and am happy with the results. Just waiting for the gallery comments to be resolved before I unveil.

You really should "click that thing". It's awesome. You'll be glad you did. With just a short amount of time and very little playing around, you can take your site from 2003 straight to 2013. And if someone like me can do it, anyone should be able to with relatively ease. It just takes a bit of poking around under the hood and figuring it out. Really, your site will be so much better, and the organization thing alone is worth doing it.

Awesome site! And I love the road photo on your homepage. I am a sucker for empty road photos :)

hit the button! there will always be issues with a new launch, but as usual with the inernet, people having problems are 10x more vocal than the ones with no issues.

it took me 20 minutes to set up my site, migration was quick, love the results.

Thanks. I'm a minimalist, and I love how easy the New SmugMug is for creating some thing clean and simple.

Your site looks great! But there does seem to be a bit of a problem. When ever I click on an image, nothing shows up. A couple of times when that happened I clicked the slideshow and then the image showed up, but not every time.

This issue may not show up for you on your computer, even if you are logged out. If you can, try viewing your site from a different computer as a customer and see what happens. Hopefully it was just a short hiccup this morning!

The new Smug Mug may be hotter than hell, but I've also read about a lot of problems and complaints. Not to mention, I do not have time to futz with the thing right now. I don't know if it's related to the new site (that I have not accessed yet and probably will not for a while for the above reasons, and as I understand things, that is my prerogative), but the final gallery from a wedding I'm trying to post just will not finish uploading. Of 280 photos, it only takes 172. Errors uploading, then I retry and it uploads duplicates even when specified not to. Then simply hanging up (for 10 hours) at # 172. I'm on my third try now. It's been a mess for the past 18 hours or so.

Love the new smugmug! I don't understand why so many people want to make their NEW site look exactly like their OLD site. It is NEW! Your site can't stay the same forever! I was happy for the opportunity for change and love our new look. The new customizer does ALMOST everything I want. Yeah, I've got a few wish list items, but on the old site I had to add TONS of CSS, JS, etc items to my advanced customizer. On this one, most stuff I want is just drag and drop!

    Push the button!

I totally agree! I guess if you put tons of work into the old, it feels hard to just let all that go. But the thing about the new is, you don't HAVE to put tons of work in to have something that looks great. And you can keep adding as you go quite easily. But that's just the point...it's easy, and it looks great.

I have to tell you that I was scared sh**less to push the "Reveal". I really didn't want to relearn anything. My old site was customized like crazy. After playing around for a day and a half I think it is great and will get really better as time goes along. I emailed everyone I knew. They all love it. My opinion, jump in. The water is fine!

I am glad I clicked on it. Initially, I loved it. Then, I started to get upset some great features I had before were missing. Today spent about an hour and I figured everything. Now, I feel the old site was UGLY :-).

Proceed with caution. Understand what the issues are that some users have hit, and figure out if they're likely to affect you, and/or if its likely to be a problem for you. That's a much better position to be in than "hmm.. I hear bad things. No thanks"

Then when you're confident that the issues people have hit have been resolved/won't affect you, hit the button ;) I'm still battling with it. I hit migrate a few hours before the presentation, and have been working on it every night since then. Still not happy with it. But getting close.

I do not see the button. I'm sure it must be hidden by some sort of customization, just not sure where to begin at this point.

I'm pretty satisfied :D but I did struggle for a day or two until I got used to the new SmugMug. Of course I'm not a "professional" so maybe I don't have as much at stake.

I always did think you seemed to be a practical person, Sara! I can't futz around with it right now either-- this month is about to go nuts on me (college kids comin' home), and it appears a few freight train-loads of crap need to just settle down or get fixed or get explained or change before it's worth diving into. We'd probably spend a fraction of the time in a few weeks than we'd spend now anyway, with these little fires popping up all over the place. So... time to pull out the old mandolin or fiddle & polish up a few reels for a bit til it sounds less like a roller-coaster ride gone SNAFU around here?!

Aaargh, I sure do hope you've been able to get those photos up though! I imagine it's all the migrating, & anyone trying to upload is like a goose flying North in October. In fact, I've wondered why SmugMug didn't simply limit the number of people to migrate at a time. It's a little bizarre with all their experience that they'd think the mass switch-throwing would be workable. Instead of the "few minutes" migration time, lots have experienced days... but why does this surprise anyone?
