More than two weeks of +1's and not a peep from a support tech or Hero. Either they don't know, don't care to answer this one, or they're so swamped dealing with all the "you broke my website" people that they don't have time for this thread... lol

This is something that would have most likely best be implemented via the code wizards here or to be coded into the content blocks. Either will require time and patience. Has anyone submitted a feature request?

Me to! Not being able to customize the site, this was the one feature I relied on to keep the homepage and folder pages fresh and grab the attention of our viewers. Really missing this a lot.
Someone above added that they want their slide show images to appear in different order. I agree that this concept of being able to randomize the appearance of a selected set of images is a very important feature.
It might be to select a set of images that appear in a slide show or in a collage of featured galleries on your hope page, or that appear full screen as a background image and have those images appear in different orders each time the page is loaded, or, in the case of the background image, just a different background image appearing each time the page is loaded.
All of these would make our web sites appear to be living, changing places like popular blog sites, that encourage repeat visits -- even though the photographer might be out working in the field the whole time and not managing his site. This would be awesome!
-- what is essential is that the photographer must be able to select the set of images from which he wants the random images selected. In other words, he might not want just any random image on his site to appear as a background image on the home page, or any random gallery to be included in the set that is being set in a random order on his home page.
And it's not like we're asking for something that is "new" to Smugmug. The Event Slideshow that Smugmug has supported for a long time now has the option to randomize the images.
I saw they deployed a new feature (something to do with maps). I just wish they would return back to what they started and "finish" the darn thing.

Randomly chosen background image
Not the same thing, this thread is regarding a randomized image collage, instead of just one background image.
It would be awesome ifa mod would move this thread into the feature request forum

Agree... would love to have the slideshow randomized. Very boring having the same order every time.

In the meantime is there something else that can be done?
Eg using keywords as the source for the homepage, and then finding a way of randomly/automatically allocating a keyword across all the galleries?
Anyone tried something like this?
thanks
Neil
Any word if this is possible or has anyone found a solution?

I'm also using keywords to populate areas where I'd like Random photos.
