And none of the other weirdness...idk...can't help ya there. The color is a deep blue with only a slight purplish tint, not at all purple like your supposed shot. Using an unsupported browser?

Anna Lisa I really hate to tell you this but on my monitor at work, my Tablet, my Smartphone and my two calibrated monitors at home, one three years old, one a few months old - your site is predominantly a lurid purple color, in Firefox, Chrome and ie10 eek7.gif

Are you using an old CRT monitor with an old or mismatched color profile? It's a really odd plastic man-made looking color and it sounds as though it's not supposed to look like that if you are saying it should be deep blue? Have you got a friends computer you can view it on? I'd hate for you to get a massive shock one day when you get a new screen.
15524779-Ti.gif And why the comments are down below, down below, down below everything else that's weighing down the right side already? Pointless. Like anyone will ever see it there. Like anyone wants to scroll, scroll, scroll. All of these points were made by many folks during Preview, but no one listened.

On your legacy site you have to scroll down to see the comments because the Flag Counter thing you have on every screen is weighing down the right side. Perhaps you aren't aware of that either?

Yes, it's totally Purple. It measures as #330066.

    I see that too.
Interestingly, the screenshot reads #3D0068 which looks even less blue.

Good Lord-- NO. I've got a newer, gorgeous monitor, & have viewed it on lots of monitors. Here's your scientific description of that color (not my words):
#330066 hex color red value is 51, green value is 0 and the blue value of its RGB is 0. Cylindrical-coordinate representations (also known as HSL) of color #330066 hue: 0.75 , saturation: 1.00 and the lightness value of 330066 is 0.20.
The process color (four color CMYK) of #330066 hex color is 0.50, 1.00, 0.00, 0.60. Web safe color of #330066 is #330066
Color #330066 contains mostly BLUE color.

Methinks YOUR monitors are off. I've used Chrome, FF, IE, lots of other monitors. The color looks NOTHING like Andy's supposed screenshot. And I don't see any of the other crap Andy shows. NO wacky borders. At all. My thumbs & main photo are in fact surrounded by the dark grey (yeah, ironically the same old same old dark grey ...Carbonite or whatever... that I'm actually sick & tired of on 99% of the rest of the cookie-cutter sites :D and that seems to be the only thing available anymore in New Smug-style? Blecch. Or if others are available, there's some reason why their display is making everyone default to the same-old same-old grey) And 330066 on my site only surrounds that carbonite thinly on bottom & sides (3/16" on my monitor), & thicker at top. There's nothing wrong with the spacing. Like I said, maybe you're all using unsupported browsers? Idk. Not gonna waste my time trying to help you. Every New Smug site I see has messed up thumbs unless the person has gone in & fixed some of it w/ CSS. And in all the ways Al lays out, Smug-style is ugly & main photo is small. If you can't see this, I feel sorry for you. Though maybe it's less painful that way. When you have blinders on, you can migrate to your heart's content & not be disturbed.

About comment boxes-- you've got it totally backwards. I have no problem with where that box is on Legacy. It's where it should be, on my site & every other one. It's on the LEFT, not right. My flag counter is on the right and actually balances it out then when there are comments there!! My site takes no more scrolling than anyone else's Legacy site. It's the New Smug comments box that's on the RIGHT, where it's not even seen because it's way below captions, titles, and the stupid numbers that are directly under the photo. Unless someone's worked some CSS magic to fix it. I don't care if you dislike a flag counter. I like glancing at it & seeing where visitors come from. Lots of sites have 'em. Big deal. It's interesting how much a person visits a site they supposedly hate.
I'm very sorry, OP. Anyway, I'm offa this. Like I said, carry on in your mockery. I have a gorgeous slideshow. With no flickers & all the options I want. P.S. Funny how no one addresses the music thing. P.P.S. My friend's favorite color was purple.

Yep, it's as purple as the ribbon on a Purple Heart!

It doesn't matter how many times someone says that purple is mainly blue - it's still purple! :crazy

It's bold, bright, and in yer face. Personally I'm a grey-on-grey bloke, as per my SM site and my WP site, but I do like to see other parts of the visible spectrum used to good effect thumb.gif

Hmmmm...I had the SmugMug Theme in legacy which is still what you see. Been working on customizing the New SmugMug Theme. There was plenty to change in my opinion to make it "look professional". I think I have done well. For having 20,000+ images, I find the SmugMug Theme works best for me. I have a few more issues to work out and hope to unveil soon. I will live with some of the current limitations; but not others...so, almost ready.

You mean like having to enter the password to get into the family galleries almost everytime I try to look at one (while logged out, like a visitor)? And the fact that most of the previews are not showing.....

But then if I go to another gallery the thumbs are there.

I still hate having to use a password to get into the folders, to see the password protected galleries too. Legacy didn't require this. It seems the biggest issues are with password protected galleries.....but then there is still the logging out, the loaders not opening and the occasional other odd ball bug.

So, you have a password on the folder '2013', and then each gallery underneath is also password protected. Thats likely the reason you have to keep entering passwords for each gallery.

The featured images you've chosen for the folder are coming from those passworded galleries, and until the password is entered for that gallery, the featured image will not display.

With New SmugMug, passwords cascade from folders to the things they contain, so unless you need different passwords for the galleries, just setting a password on the folder will apply to all the galleries. That should take care of your entering password problem.

As for the broken images, there is a bug report in our system for featured images for passworded folders. It has been marked as resolved, however its not exactly the same as your case because in the bug report the gallery that contains the featured photo is not password protected, only the folder. If you remove the password from your galleries like I suggested, the featured photos should start showing. I'll ask QA if they are aware of any current issues regarding featured photos in passworded galleries.

The folder password and the gallery passwords are the same, and you'd think checking "remember password" would take care of entering it over and over.

The old Smug didn't require a password to get into the folders where the galleries were located, and I don't even know how the folder got a password...but it did. I've selected a photo to be used as the thumb for the password protected galleries, so I'd think it'd show....like it did prior to the change.

Going in and getting rid of the passwords in the protected galleries would not be a fun task either.

    Oh, and.....

Okay, so there is a bugfix currently in QA for featured photos from passworded galleries. Hopefully should make it though QA shortly.

For the re-entering passwords, this is by design. Regardless of whether the password is the same for multiple resources, the password must be entered for each resource. Checking 'remember password' simply remembers that the password was validated for a resource. I realize this is different than how it worked under Legacy SmugMug. To get the desired behavior, password a folder instead of all the individual galleries.

Allen has found the solution to making a feature photo from a password protected gallery ...
"External Embedding" has to be on.
