I've always wanted to try something like this, so I figured, why not :)

It is a 20x30 poster consisting of 98 images :) These are all images that I have taken that signify, in one way or another, a part of my life.

Feel free to check it out. It was loads of fun to make it, and if you're interested, I will list how I made it.

Thanks for looking :)

The only thing I found, which I didn't like, is it took the files in order a sequence... I wanted them spaced out... Totally random so to speak.

So I found a bulk file renamer online and renamed all the pictures (added a random # to the beginning of each file name) and then did the process. My pictures came out completely random :)

(figured it was fitting to use the smiley named after you!

Seriously, I took a look at the PS tute, and that's some good stuff. Glad there's a cross-platform method. I may try it out next time around...

    David,

What kind of paper did you print yours on? Just curious as to what is best for such a thing.

Also... did you frame it? I'd love to see a picture of it up.

    Thanks,

I just had it printed through iPhoto, I think it's Kodak paper.

I don't have a picture of it up, but I could take one...may be a few days, but I'll do it.

I'm gonna do mine through SM, but I'm pondering the luster or the gloss or the matte... ne_nau.gif

Hi Stacey (and others with PSP)

I have had a really quick look at the PS instructions and a look at PSP 9.

I HAVE NOT tried to make this work, am just guessing at this point....

I suspect that the steps will be just like the PS steps. i.e. pick the photos that you want to include and move or copy them all into a new folder. crop them to all have the same aspect ratio.

Open the folder in 'browse'. Select print. This will print a contact sheet of all photos. You can define some of the parameters of the contact sheet such as spacing and number of photos per sheet.

Do so....now this is the step I am unsure of - I think at this point you want to save the contact sheet as a high quality image - it should be 8 1/2 x 11 because that is the size of paper it is expecting. If you can figure out how to save it as a .jpg, then manipulating its final size is easy. Add borders, crop, whatever you need to get it to 2 x 3 aspect ratio.

Gotta go eat curry. I'll check some more on this later.

Hey, so I made another. This time I wanted to make a gift for family, so I used a bunch of old scanned photos. I wanted it to be a kind of family history. This thing goes back to my great-great-grandfather.

In my tute (actually it's a tute that I borrowed from Mike Matas as you can see in the tute), I showed how to make this poster with iPhoto and order through iPhoto (that's how Mike did it!).

For this one I ordered it through smugmug, 20x30, lustre finish.

I just got it yesterday, and man does it look sweet. I'm really happy with it.

Quick question everyone. Once I open the PDF in Photoshop, it's image size is 8.265 x 10.815 inches? Is this correct? Does the printer upsize it to 20x30?headscratch.gif

It sounds like you're not really following the steps of the tutorial. It says that you need to make a custom paper size that's 20x30. Read through the steps and make sure that you're clear. I think you'll find that it works perfect if you do that.
