No, not a competition... I didn't see anything like this around dgrin except the contest, but I thought that many like me might have been too intimidated to try for 'picture of the year' - that doesn't mean I'm not proud of what I've done. I just bought my D70 in February, and in a sense I can't believe it's only been 11 months from how far I've come - much of the inspiration and progress due to dgrin.

I'll shut up now and post my pic - it's very hard to pick just one, but really good to look through the favorites pile. The pic is of a Vietnamese boatman, a big memory for me:

Although I just photographed this last week, this is probably one of my favorites of 2005 (at least from my 20D).

    Top Photo of '05
A very tough call for me. I've only just gotten into photography March '05 - but when I did, I jumped in full force. (c:

I would have liked to pick one of my South East Asia photos but I think the following is my favorite picture - or at least the most significant - because once I saw that I could take a picture like this, then I realized that I might really be able to get into this photography thing. Anyways, here it is:

I have to go with this one. It's a fond memory of a great two weeks I spent on a road trip with my family.

I tried to enter this one in the contest but for some reason I couldn't upload it?
Never really figured out why after I followed the instructions EXACT so I got PO'd and gave up!:bash

It's definately my cream of the crop for the year.
It was so good that I already sold a copy of it!!
Also got POTD at a German site!

If the house were burning, the family photos were safe, and I could only save one other, from this year, well, this is irreplacable, and it will never be taken again, nor one like it, by anyone.

Monsignor McInerny, Pastor of Stella Maris Catholic Church, Sullivan's Island. Big wheel in Catholicism in the Catholic Schools of Charleston and other offices. I love it! He and I don't agree on a lot, but he is good people, and I would save this photo and choose it for my non family photo of the year! ginger

(And no way would I pick one family photo over another one.) That is one trap I try hard to avoid.
After all is said and done, it is the sweet tea.

    Hi, Jim,

Ouch, I'm really sorry you didn't get your entry in. I tried to be really explicit but I also gave out an alternate email address. I guess maybe you missed these two posts in the Dgrin Photo of the Year thread ne_nau.gif

My New Year's Resolution is to stop lurking and participate. Joined a long time ago and have very much enjoyed reading and looking. So, here's my favorite photo of 2005, & my very first post, all in one.

From the Oak Openings Metropark, outside Toledo, Ohio. I walked this trail today, nothing but mud and clouds; nowhere near as much fun as last January when I took this.
