They don't seem to realize that lots of us have many similar-looking photos on our sites (sometimes hidden, too)
While there's currently not an option to change the size of the thumbnails in the organizer or to display original thumbnails, in situations where I have similar looking photos, I usually turn on the filename display in the organizer. In case you didn't know, you can do this with the "rectangle with line below it" button at the far right of the tools in the organizer.
To view any photo in the organizer in lightbox, you can double click on the thumbnail. That would also preserve any selection you may have made, so closing the lightbox, you could continue selecting more photos.
Allen, I checked out your badge, & yeah, that's what I've got on my blog & other spots, too. But it won't last after Oct.15, unless they've changed their minds. Hoping an admin will comment. It took me awhile, but I finally found a thread where there's discussion of this thing about badges not being available anymore once Legacy Smug is gone forever: http://dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=236744&highlight=embeddable+badges+Smugmug (Oh, & you're in there, commenting. S'ok, too little time; too many photo thingies to remember!!)
So it seems the reason you've still got that badge viewable on your blog is that it's technically running off Old Smug, even though you've published. That's what I recall being told in the past... that I could even publish & still see my badges & slideshows elsewhere, but not once they completely retire Old Smug. Wish I had better news. It's maddening & saddening. :cry Wasn't there some news in the last couple weeks about Google or someone steering clear of sites using flash now? Idk...
