This will be a great feature for me to evolve my site design.
A couple quick questions;
1) Have you considered putting the option for a mask on the portion of the gallery photo with title and description? This would help with high contrast images blowing out the text. In the same way that the back ground settings allow you to do this.
2) Have you considered putting the option for a mask on the whole picture to mute it a bit?
3) Have you considered using a collage of say 3 selected portrait shots as the gallery picture? This would be great especially for galleries where I have predominantly headshots in portrait orientation.
A couple of quick updates and some follow-up questions: Updates:
- Cover Photo and Feature Photo will be separated. Cover Photo will be set in Gallery Settings, just like Feature Photo is.
Yay!
Thank you.

Yea for the separation of the Cover and Feature Photo barb
Now I only need to find someone to pay for another holiday in New Zealand so that I can take some nice panorama photos there too (ok and Spain and Scotland)
Well OK, I might also have to change all my galleries from Smugmug-customized to some other style...well we'll see
What a great thread!!! :ivar
Smugmug/Aaron let the customers know what they are thinking of implementing.
The customers provide detailed feedback with suggestions - all without hysteria or rancor.
Smugmug/Aaron announces they are incorporating some of the suggestions ... just brilliant!!
Really has made my day
My opinion does not necessarily make it true. What you do with my opinion is entirely up to you. www.acecootephotography.com
Can anyone tell me why I'm seeing a white rectangle near my social icons on the cover photo?
It looks like that's on your Profile Content Block and the white rectangle is the scrollbar for your Profile Description. Once we finalize the Gallery Cover Photo design changes, we'll be bringing these over to the Profile Content Block as well. We know the Profile design could use additional love. Your profile description is only one line, so I'm not quite sure why it wants to scroll.
I wanted to give everyone a heads up that we've incorporated your feedback and made a number of changes and are planning on releasing these updates / new features THIS WEEK (as early as tomorrow)! I've created a new thread for this announcement. Feel free to monitor for an update when the features go live and to provide any additional feedback.

So, can something be done to fix it?
I've gone ahead and added the following CSS to your "About" page to remove it:
