St Gabriel's Episcopal Church in Titusville, FL Neoclassic style
Construction begun in 1887- named St. Gabriel after the donation of a stained glass window depicting St. Gabriel. On the National Register of historic places and contains a fine collection of Victorian stained glass - possibly Tiffany. We couldn't go inside - it was locked. From the outside

Chartres is a little town about an hour SW of Paris, famed worldwide for its gorgeous Gothic cathedral with stunning stained glass. The cathedral survived the French Revolution with only minor damage to the exterior, but was almost bombed to the ground in WWII. It was mostly finished in 1220. The shorter, plainer tower was completed first, around 1150, while the taller one is much newer, dating to the early 1500s.
We visited in May of 2022, and that was great timing on our part, since the Cathedral had undergone a thorough cleaning a few years ago inside and out. As well, and very controversially, the interior walls were painted shades of white, yellow and beige—the idea being to make it look as it did in the 13th century. Some said this went beyond the scope of pure conservation into aesthetic modification, but others countered that it was historically accurate, and moreover cathedrals don’t need to be somber and grey. Personally, I think it looks amazing!
This building no longer exists. The building was erected by the Second Congregational Church during the years from 1867 to 1870, and was used by that church until the union of the First and Second Churches in 1920. In 1927 Oberlin College purchased the property, removed the steeple, and remodelled the building as a temporary home for the department of Zoology. It contained a large auditorium, two class rooms, five laboratories, a departmental reading room, and offices. The marginal floor space and gallery were occupied by the Zoological Museum. Wright Zoological Laboratory was named in honor of Albert A. Wright, for thirty-one years Professor of Geology and Natural History in Oberlin College. Wright Zoological Laboratory was demolished in August, 1959. Bibbins Hall of the Conservatory complex currently occupies Wright’s former location.
The first three years of my time at Oberlin, we were in this building for Zoology classes. Unfortunatly I never took photos of the iteriror because I didn't get a camera until partway through my junior year. (November 1957), and by the fall of 1958 the building was no longer in use.
