Mini Challenge #362 - Shadows

Peter - @GSPeP , who was the winner of the last Mini challenge, is traveling for work and unable to post a new Mini. So here goes with a new one.
This mini is all about shadows - the shots can be shadows only or as a part of the whole. But the shadow should be interesting or one of the focal points of the shot.

The mini will run for two weeks ending on Sunday, December 17, 2023.

Some examples:

Historic cabin in the Pioneer Yosemite History Center - this was moved from the Valley to the Center.

Shadows playing with the Jungle of Fun ride at a County Fair - during the Fair setup and before opening to the public.

Out of the shadows into beauty - the Sonora Pass from Nevada into California.- (closed for most of winterr)

I'm having to dig deep with this one. I don't think these pics are stellar, but I'm posting them until I find the ones I am thinking about (and I wanted to get the mini started).

1. Overlook at Cedar Breaks National Monument. This is my daughter looking at the view. I thought the shadows were cool, so I took the pic of them. It would be better if I'd thought to include more of the view!
   

2. Patterns from recent annular eclipse. We were close to the area to see "the ring of fire" but not quite there. We saw the crescent through our eclipse glasses. I looked down for a sec and saw the shadows on the ground and honestly thought they were more interesting than what I saw looking up. This is the sidewalk under our trees.
   

3. Hot Summer Wedding. The Bride and her family really wanted the pictures under that gorgeous oak tree. At that time of day, the shadows were so hard to work around. I tried to get them in a different spot, but they insisted. I wasn't happy with the results, but they loved them and that's what matters. (I usually don't do weddings.)
   

I'll keep looking!

3. Shadow on a lighthouse - the land around this lighthouse has been filled, and the original entrance is now underground. The shadow of the roof of the oil oil house can be seen shadowed through the paint.

Surprisingly, I had quite a few choices. I hope these three fit the brief, if not, let me know.

1) Taking a break in a sunny day bike ride

2) Stained glass window throwing its shadow on a chuch floor

3) Windows shadows in a cloister

I found two photos featuring shadows and will try to look for another. I often try to photograph shadows in a tiny landscape shot but haven't had time to look for any of those.

@olderwhiskey - Hope the following helps - if not, let me know.

Firstly, choose the Gear icon to edit your original post.

Then:
1) when posting a photo, make sure you select (copy) your file name
2), choose the Photo tool in the tool bar ,
3) then paste the file name in the image url text box and the photo will be added to the post.

If you use SmugMug for your photos, it is easier to copy the url by selecting your photo and using the Share tool..

The following photos are my three entries in the Shadow Mini Challenge.

1. It is interesting how important the shadows are in this photo. The horns spread out and are set against the green background. The hip bones standout on both sides.
   -Also notice the bull can see me. I am not much for him to worry about, but he is using this left eye to follow me.

2. The focus of this photo is this the rather ugly tree. The one without leaves. Yet it caught my eye and stands out as the star of the photo.

3. The focus of the central leaf not only has the most light, but the leaf veins have a hint of shadow. I like the contrast against the leaf color.

Great idea for a challenge, Jo @Cavalier, but I think I need to expand my photography. I must try to avoid shadows, at least as you framed the challenge. But I found a couple that might fit by a stretch.
1. Under Hanalei Pier. The shadows of the pier legs add a little extra pattern to the shot.

2. Mingus Mill, Great Smoky Mountain NP.

I do not understand what is going on with the nature of this posting software.
Earlier today I wanted to review the entries I added yesterday and they were gone??
So I spent some time recreating them today.
Tonight see both entries: the original entry and the one I created today??

These are my three entries in the Shadow Mini Challenge:

1. I like the shadow elements in this photo:
   The shadow on the horns against the green grass.
   The shadow on the bulls back that highlight the hip bones.

• Also I like the way the bull is watching me with his left eye. I am not much for him worry about, but he is keeping an eye on me.

2. In this photo I like the way light shows off a single leaf separate from the others and that leaf has a hint of shadow to show off the leaf veins.

3. The ugly tree in the center has light and shadows to make it the star of the photo.
