Deleted posts?

While I can understand that the moderators have the authority and the right to delete any posts they like on this site, is there any policy about alerting the author of the post? One of my posts was mysteriously deleted 2 weeks ago. I'd like to know how and why this happened. Quite honestly, I was a little P%#$&ed at the…
