Seriously, these are great pictures. I am hoping to have my 70-200 or 50-500 in time for MotoGP at Laguna.
It's fun reading a magazine and saying "hey, I know that guy!"
All shot in RAW, with either a 300f2.8/70-200f2.8 or 24-70f2.8. ISO varied between 800 and 1200.
Watch out for my Hacking chequered flag shot at Daytona In CycleNews next week (in a Yamaha ad) <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/clap.gif" border="0" alt="" > <<thrilled!

It's a triangle of beauty.
Now on to the pit, promotion girls. Gotta have em I guess. Yes will admit even I have taken the odd shot for a few friends, & yes even have come across a couple that can pull a full sentence together & know & understand why their there. A lot dont have a clue & just stand there smile & look sexy & help there sponsors take money from the testosterone, reeved up males.
Two girls in red nice shot, sunnies to hide there boardem probably.

Believe it or not I rarely shoot "grid girls" however, just through chatting with some of them I had found them actually quite charming and from what i could gather most of the girls there are in some sort of higher education and this work helps fund that. I like to think that the images I took of these women are a little less tacky than the norm and showing a softer side. To be honest, in these times, if someone is going to smile at me, and give me a genuine smile (especially the shot of the girl in the Daytona t-shirt) I'll take it.

And a lot less tacky than what 99% of what you actually see walking the streets of Bike Week.
I got a couple photos of the Lockhart Phillips girls last year at Laguna and thought they were very classy in comparison.
I say more power (and compensation) to 'em.
...oh, and can anyone (who lives in Australia) grab me a copy of this weeks CycleTorque magazine? I have some images in there now so if anyone out there Dahn-Undah could PM me that would be spiffy!

Andrew,
Great article, it's a real joy to read your column....
Still wondering which other shots in this thread were with your 300/2.8L,
(re: page 1 this thread / post # 6) that rear shot of Chad Reed up in the lights is my Fav.
Also, if you don't mind me asking about your Fontana images: on both your site and on Cycleworld.com - the rear of "James Comptons GSXR1000R ex-drag chopper" is calling my name(!!) I have to see more of that - is that possible?
Thanks for the inspiring pics & words,
rich

Pretty unusual to get that many crash shots in a series.
The second bike was really a mess. Ugh.
Moving and informative story. I agree completely about helmet use. I'm a member of the Yamaha FZ1 forum--mostly more mature riders who look down on those who don't wear proper gear. I'm surprised the "squid" attitude came from a GoldWing rider.
With that great writing, your journalistic stock has just gone up!
I like the 30-second girl shot the more I look at it. The whole image conveys a certain energy and tension and apprehension. I think the girl's expressive posture along with your composition have a lot to do with it.
