Ch 63: Waterfall, maybe?

I know, I know, running water and long exposure together are nothing new, but hey, I gotta try it, too:-)

30 sec exposure meet the rules, but does it also look nice?:scratch

    I think its Wonderfull, if it was my choice, I would crop out the little porch thingy visible in the upper center left, or clone it out.....so it looks like its in the middle of nowhere.......but Its Wonderfull just as it is clap.gif

    I think it looks excellent. How was this lighting for this photo? Also what kind of filter were you using. I assume it was an ND filter, but how many F stops? I'm looking into getting a couple ND filters for my 70-200 F/4 L, but I'm unsure as to which filters work well.

    I like this shot a lot, it stood out to me from your Paradise Falls collection (was about to comment on it there, but saw this thread).

    I agree about a different crop. Definitely ditch the observation platform... Maybe try and bring out the greens just a touch more.

    I love the soft flowing feel of the water in this shot. The colors do seem a bit soft though, especially the grass growing amongst the rocks. Looking forward to seeing your future work on this one!

    Lighting was pretty low (late afternoon, gloomy day, canyon), which was just perfect for the effect:-). yes, it was an 3.0 ND filter (x1000). That's the only one I currently own, but I'm considering getting one less drastic - this one looks like a totally dark piece of glass, and it's a major pain to (re-)compose and focus..ne_nau.gif

    I like how the water landed - smooth & glassy feel. The top half of the pic didn't do much for me - like others have pointed out.

    A nice waterfall shot - now wouldnt be just wonderful to have something that lovely nearby ? I agree with the others over the platform causing a distraction.

    Nikolai, I love this shot, and apart from cropping the top, I would like to see how it looks with a little added "pop", maybe make the greens stand out just a little more. I really love the water though it looks great.thumb.gif

    I'm still contemplating a few other ideas for the challenge, but I work on this image anyway, I think it has some potential. Besides, carrying the tripod for a mile and back plus jumping from stone to stone over the creek while holding several grand of fragile optics, mechanics and electronics in hands plain deserve some extra PS work :):

    Good job on post, Nickolai. I love the shot. IMHO, you can't have too many beautiful waterfalls. Whatever happens with the challenge, you have a keeper.

    It's is a strong shot, I agree about the cropping, the rocks on either side of the falls almost draw my eye away from the moving waterclap.gif

    Wonderful pictures. Personally, I wouldn't crop it because the smooth, graceful water flow makes a nice counterpoint to the static and rough rocks. Nicely done.
