Never a stupid question... especially not when asking to see photos of something for sale. Maybe some sample shots take with the lens would be nice too.

Bird Lady, this is a great walk around lens for the XT body. I have one on my XT and love it. Once I learn the basics of the camera and photography in general, I'm sure I will be able to really use it. Then, I will step up to the next level of lenses.

Check out my site at http://rtp.smugmug.com

98% of the shots are with that particular lens.

    I'd get it.

What was the backout for? I live nearby and can inspect this lens if necessary.

There's nothing wrong with the lens, birdlady decided she wants to save up for a 28-135IS instead.

The other possible sale led to a backout because he had to leave the country before I could ship the lens.

I would not have any problem letting you inspect it either. It's in great shape.

Looks like you might have found an even closer inspector of the lens.

    32433724.jpg
    (full picture: http://www.pbase.com/image/32433724 )
It is a great walk-around lens. It is much lighter than the 28-135 IS. Here are some revies: http://www.fredmiranda.com/reviews/showproduct.php?product=206&sort=7&cat=27&page=3
This lens is a joy to use!

    Fine lens!
I bought a used copy of this lens from another DGrinner about two weeks ago and have been putting it through the paces on a Canon 5D. I'd owned the EF 28-135 IS and used it extensively until I bought a couple of Canon professional lenses. The 28-135 simply didn't measure up in terms of sharpness and I sold it. I bought the Tamron 28-75 f/2.8 based on outstanding reviews. I was content with that excellent lens until I moved up from the 20D with its 1.6 cropping factor to the full frame 5D. Now I feel I need a bit more length and have been considering options. The Canon EF 28-105 f/3.5-4.5 has been reviewed as well as the new Canon 24-105 f/4L that costs four to five times as much, so it seemed a no brainer to start with that one. So far, I'm extremely happy with the lens. It provides fine sharpness, good color and contrast, as well as fast, accurate focusing. I think this lens is an outstanding choice as a walk around lens. It is much sharper than my copy of the 28-135. I don't know this seller or this lens, but at this price it seems like a bargain. Good luck with the sale.
