i was perusing some of my old stuff ...
early morning commuter plane to beantown (sony f717)
i really dig how you can see the faintest outline of the prop here on this one. same plane as above, landing in boston. (sony f717)
sometimes, you can get really lucky with the atmospheric conditions (this one taken with a sony p&s, a p9)
high above the sierra nevada, heading to california. this one looks so cool, printed big at 13"x 19" (canon 10d, 16-35L)
won't you share some of your air travel shots?

One of my favorite shots, just because I've never flown over the Grand Canyon! I haven't adjusted anything on these shots, so they're not the best. Actually forgot about them until Andy's suggestion. Thanks Andy!!
Did somebody drop something?

I never have time to take photos during flights - I have to keep an eye on the pilot ...

That first shot reminds me of when I was doing some work up in Northen Quebec, taking these little commuter planes (between Montreal and Alma). Funny thing was, they would read the safety stuff in French then as an after thought, say does anyone speak english.

Mt. Hamilton - as seen from the air. I had the exposure comp set at -1.0 and the white buildings are still blown out (late afternoon, early evening). Sitting up in the open like that, they were almost like mirrors reflecting the sun. I tweaked the brightness and contrast a bit (the originals are worse):
If you bring up the original (full) size and look in the brown grassy area (lower right portion of the pic) you can see some of the twisty road leading up to the observatory...no wonder it's a favorite with local riders.
Here's a shot taken from the last row of seats looking forward during flight. I think Andy's plane was considering larger than what I was in...
And here's a shot showing one of the problems trying to take pics from the air. We were flying over a local reservoir that I fish in from time to time. The water level is really low and that exposed some structure that I wanted to record (so I can find the little island in Spring when the water is up and the bass are hanging around it).
I had to shoot out the left side of the plane and the sun wasn't cooperating. That's not a double-exposure, it's my reflection on the window (which didn't show up in the tiny 1.5" LCD screen on the back of my camera...d'oh):
Oh well, at least I know where that island is now...
As we entered the pattern for landing, I had to sun behind me and grabbed a quick picture of the airport we flew out of...Reid Hillview in San Jose, CA.
If you've ever flown through Dallas-Fort Worth Airport, Reid Hillview is sort of the opposite.

I am like a kid in a plane, always looking out the window, watching the land move by. I took this some time ago using a 1.3mp digi. All my air travel shots need alot of work to look decent. This is of San Bernardino mountains.
Joel
nice work on your shots

Great shots all of you.
I always fight me wife and kids over the window seat, I cant stop watching the world go by underneath.
Had the thrill of flying in a Ford Tri-Motor resently.
Dig them overhead bins.
Only a short flight but exciting.

I am afraid of flying. My husband has to sedate me to get me in that plane. The only thing that makes it slightly bearable is that I can take pics out of the window. I am looking forward to my first flight where I can take my D70... The ones below are with my minolta dimage 7I
This is flying from Phoenix to Chicago. Too bad that there is no way of knowing where you are flying over...
The crop circles. If anyone could help me out as to where they are, I would be so pleased. It is again flying from Phoenix to Chicago
