These galleries (parks) have not been changed or edited in any way since last year I think, only been viewed and rearranged. So adding and changing elsewhere must be triggering it. The bird field trip sub-cats and galleries seem to change daily though.

Ok, so I just rearranged them in proper order and saved - all good.

I created a new gallery - it went to the end of the list, perfect.

Addded a photo to it - checked, all still in order.

Added a new photo to another gallery - checked, everything still in order.

Deleted what I added one at a time and rechecked, all still in order.

Not sure what is going on - but if someone could come up with a fail safe way of recreating that would be cool.

Ok this is getting better - but WHAT did you put in order that made parks get out of order?

I hate to jump in on someone else's thread, but isn't this the same problem that was reported last month?

    http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=30299

It's still happening to me as well... I can wake up in the morning and all the galleries in one sub-catagory are re-arranged even though they were fine when I went so sleep... I personally can't reproduce it even though I've fixed it 20+ times now...

    Thanks,
    Jeremy

OK Allen - I recreated on your site. Arrange Parks - all is good. Arrange Archery galleries, and it blows up Parks. Looking at code now ...

    JT,

Have you been able to determine if the problem is a display issue or a database/ image issue?

What I mean is, are the photos displayed properly according to the number in the database? If the numbers are not changing then the problem is on the software side. Are the actual position numbers changing in the database tables? This of course is more serious.

Could this have to do with the ongoing database problems? Does SM run a caching database system? It could be a problem of partial writes to the tables. Partial writes could result in these problems and would appear randomly.

Could this be the result of the system SM uses to keep the HTTP connection open? An alternative is to simply take the POST and returning SUCCESS (of the POST, not necessarily of the completion of the action requested).

Anyway just some thoughts I had on the problem.

The problem was that my math sucked :) Arranging subcats was all turned around - but I just fixed it and it should go out the next time we update.

Don't you love it when the problem is easy to fix.

And don't you hate it when the problem was your creation?

JT ... feel free to test mine. Everytime I've rearranged a sub-category, my main page rearranges itself. Or a category rearranges itself. It has a mind of its own. :uhoh

    Thanks.
Hang in there, we're testing a fix internally as we speak....

When will that be JT? I hope soon. The self-arranging categories and main page is freaking me out. :uhoh

But glad to hear you fixed it. I just can't wait to get it.

It should be very soon. JT worked hard at tracking this down and we're all testing it along with some other changes. We're all up late tonight.
